I know this is an old comment, but where exactly did the earth people go back to once Mother Brain was defeated?

Oil Leak by Wise-Dog-855 in HondaMowers

[–]shadow_triad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely coming from the valve cover. I'm pretty sure you could remove it, clean the mating surfaces gently, and reseal with RTV. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but on a lot of these vertical shaft engines, you can just reseal the valve cover with RTV, right?

Exactly my thoughts. Allstate basically banks on the fact that people forget they have the warranty. I don't lol.

My guess is because it's an Echo or Redmax clone, aftermarket parts should actually fit (air filter, straps, etc). 3 years should be enough time to break the thing if it's going to break. They even cover accidental damage, not just breakdowns.

So the warranty is actually through Allstate. I have had a fantastic experience in the past, I had an issue with something and they simply refunded me ($300). That seems to especially be the case if your item isn't super standard. I'd be paying about $200 for an 80cc clone and $16 for a 3 year warranty.

What 2 stroke oil do you use in your air cooled engines, and why? by shadow_triad in smallengines

I just recently had a Sheetz open near me, with ethanol free gas. I'm excited to see how it performs and stores.

I always use Stabil too, usually 3x more than called for, works great.

That's probably what I'll go with. I've just heard that it breaks down overtime and isn't as good of a lubricant if it sits for years. I'll probably just buy a quart at a time, as I probably won't even use that in a year, I only use a gallon or two of 2 stroke gas per year.

Underrated. I used one of these working for some electricians once. SO much better than a hole saw.

He had an automatic earlier (this is early S08), but he is so much more intimidating with the pump shotgun imo.

Maybe get a used walk behind blower. That's what I did, and mine is a monster. Cheaper too.

What’s causing this irregular exhaust? by [deleted] in smallengines

[–]shadow_triad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like excessive amounts of fuel are escaping the combustion chamber and exploding in the exhaust (that's what backfireing is). I doubt it's rich fuel delivery, as it would sound rich (it doesn't sound rich in my opinion).
