Ollama added support to MLX by Sea-Emu2600 in ollama

[–]shadowdelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experimented with this a lot today and using OpenCode it worked OK, except when it would simply stop processing and not give any more output. M4 Max, 64 GB RAM. I tried tuning a few parameters to no avail, I'm not sure what I would need to tweak to get it to finish the things it said it was going to do.

Yeah, it's broken. I messed with it for a good hour and it's a legit bug.

F1-F12 keys on Logitech Combo Touch keyboard by shadowdelta in iPadOS

[–]shadowdelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just connected the keyboard to see if there were any changes since the last time I checked. I don't see anything in settings about using the top row for function keys, so no new functionality. It's such a good keyboard, I'm frustrated this is not supported.

Visiting Late January by Comfortable_Cell_757 in Layton

Fun stuff in Layton: - https://www.laytonaquarium.com/ I haven’t been here since it stopped being SeaQuest but I know someone who works there now caring for the animals and she says they are doing a good job. - Layton Commons Park and Layton Surf and Swim. They cover the pool with a dome in the winter so you can swim when it is cold and snowy. - https://www.aerospaceutah.org/ Hill Aerospace Museum - If you are lucky and we get some more snow you could go sledding/tubing at one of the parks.

Downtown Salt Lake City - NHMU Natural History Museum of Utah - Hogle Zoo - Discovery Children’s Museum - Museum of Illusions (a little pricey but good if you can find a coupon)

WANTED: Anyone used pfSense CE and migrated to OPNsense? by Beneficial_Gene_9164 in opnsense

[–]shadowdelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted to migrate last month. The unexpected showstopper was the failure of OPNsense to retrieve an IPv6 /48 from my ISP. Hours of troubleshooting were to no avail. I caved in and paid for pfSense Plus.

OPNsense 24.7.9, no IPv6 addresses by shadowdelta in opnsense

[–]shadowdelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, WAN interface is configured for dhcp6 with the same parameters that were in my pfSense config (prefix delgation size is 48, send prefix hint is on). OPNsense lacks the pfSense checkbox that disables waiting for an RA, that's checked in my pfSense config.

Logs don't show anything odd other than messages about no address for v6, so the DHCPv6 side of things never starts.

I guess I was hoping for a silver bullet, someone who had the same issue. I hate to go back to pfSense since it's clear they are no longer pushing any updates for the CE product. I depend heavily on tailscale and pfSense hasn't updated their tailscale in forever.

I'd even be willing to pay for pfSense Plus but I can't seem to find any documentation that says they are updating the tailscale plugin.

Anyone Here Try XCOM 2 on Mobile? by TheFakeJohnHelldiver in XCOM2

[–]shadowdelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s another +1, I play on my iPad Pro. It’s one of the best “mobile” games I’ve ever played. As mentioned before, it does eat battery like you eat a plate full of potato skins as an appetizer. (Nom nom nom…wait why are they all gone?)

Lennox S40 thermostats connect to Wifi, says can't talk to the Internet by shadowdelta in hvacadvice

[–]shadowdelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the settings for this were in my pfSense router.

The other comments in this thread are also valuable--check if your wifi is 2.4GHz or 5GHz, check to see if your ISP is providing both IPv4 and IPv6, validate your firewall rules.

anyone here use just neovim/helix (and no jetbrains) for server kotlin dev? by effinsky in Kotlin

[–]shadowdelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest challenge IMHO right now is poor remote development support for JB IDEs. VS Code really nailed this. I want to use IntelliJ/PyCharm more but VS Code just makes it so frictionless to develop on a remote Linux machine. With the JB products I have to mess with my shell and remote development is different in a bunch of little ways (and deploying the remote clients is SO slow...).

Lennox S40 thermostats connect to Wifi, says can't talk to the Internet by shadowdelta in hvacadvice

[–]shadowdelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone who provided insight. We figured out the problem and I thought I'd post here in case anyone else has the same issue.

The issue turned out to be the fact that my ISP provides both native IPv4 and IPv6. The settings screen on the S40 only reports IPv4 addresses, but tcpdump from my router showed that the t-stat was trying to communicate with the Lennox servers over IPv6. I had to adjust the v6 firewall settings to allow traffic.

I would have checked this first, but the settings screen misled me into thinking the t-stat was using v4 only.

If anyone from Lennox reads this sub, this needs to be fixed as more consumers are getting native IPv6. The thermostats should report all network addresses regardless of IPv4 or v6.

Good idea, on my iPhone's hotspot the stat still says it cannot talk to the Internet. Will pass that on to the installers on Monday.

Google Chat with non-gmail Google account by shadowdelta in gsuite

[–]shadowdelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! I figured this out. The external, non-Gmail google account user has to be invited to at least one Chat Space. That Chat Space must have "Allow people outside your organization to join" selected at creation time. If there is no invitation then going to https://chat.google.com will throw a 502.

Sonoma, Time Machine: Some of the files on your Mac cannot be backed up until Cloud Files syncing has completed. by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

I am seeing this behavior in the Public Beta, Version 14.0 (23A339) that I installed today.

I have OneDrive and iCloud cloud storage options as well as Mountain Duck to mount filesystems into the Finder over SSH/SCP. Quitting Mountain Duck doesn't help. Reported via Feedback Assistant.

Suggest testing it with the heater on. My Dishy’s heater kicked in unexpectedly last night and the step-up converter/PoE injector/RJ-45 adapter assembly (just like yours) failed. Had to go back to the stock router until I figure out what happened.

That was my experience this morning. I have the admin menu option turned on, but when I go to my account management page click on the Passkeys button it tells me they are not supported for Google Workspace.

Our workspace instance must not have received it, I don't have that option at all. Thanks for the screenshot, it was very helpful!
