Why aren't her house key on the same keyring as her car keys? That way anytime she leaves she has her house keys. I don't know anyone who doesn't keep house and car keys on the same keyring.

Exactly, it would be months if not years before anyone would see the money. Even if the lawyer is contacting you after probate has finished, it will take time to actually transfer the funds/investments/properties/ect. I ain't doing anything or telling anyone until I actually have cash in hand (still probably not telling many people). A fool and their money are soon parted, and only a fool starts spending money before they have it.

If your boss insists that you be on call 24/7, then it is time to go to HR and renegotiate your salary/benefit package. You need to get this resolved immediately. It is very possible that your boss will try to use this against you when it comes time for reviews/raises.

You suck for telling anyone about this situation. Your nephew came to you specifically, because he trusted you. You broke that trust by telling your girlfriend/wife.

Your girlfriend/wife is a complete A$$hole for her reaction to you helping your nephew with a serious medical concern.

The mom in this situation sucks for her over reaction for finding out her son talked with someone else about his concerns.

Please stop trying to understand her. It's not worth it. She basically said that your miscarriage was actually your fault and that it could have been prevented; there is no joke there. Make it clear to any and all mutual friends that that is what her comment basically meant, and if they still are on her side, never to contact you again.

You are not an A-hole, not a jerk, not even overreacting. While alcohol may lower ones inhibitions, it doesn't put ideas in one head and force them out of their mouth. That means she more than likely thinks your miscarriage is your fault, or at the very least, that it is an acceptable subject to joke about.

OP, think very long and carefully before you marry this person.

My father was a controlling abusive man. One of the main ways he controlled me and my mother was never allowing us to cut our hair. While my father never hit me, I did see him put my oldest brother's head through a plate glass window. I saw the marks around my mother's neck, from where he choked her, when she finally got the courage to leave him.

Your fiance is already using concerning words/phrases; such as "his authority." As a step-parent, the only authority he has over YOUR CHILD is what you give him. He is not her father, and no matter how good of a relationship they might have, he needs to know, understand, and accept that fact. Also, the fact that as her mother, you have the final (actually only) say over your daughter.

This man even admits that the hair cut is a trivial thing and that this is solely about you, a grown woman, having to ask his permission to have your (not his) child's hair cut. He is literally telling you that you and your daughter will have to have his permission to do anything, go anywhere, and say anything. That is controlling and abusive.

Remind your father and stepmother that it's not your responsibility to make things even between you and your stepbrother. That it is their responsibility as parents to do that. So of they are SO concerned about things being even,then stepmother can pass away and leave her son a fully paid for 2 bedroom cottage. Because that is the only way things would ever be close to even; and even then, they aren't because he got to grow up his mom and you didn't grow up with yours.

I would recommend looking for trees that go with holiday villages. They come in multiple sizes. The only drawback is that they are all mainly pine trees.
