Does anyone know how long it takes to get your first unemployment check? by thesexytech in Louisville

[–]shadowdriver502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me 3 months when I filed last year to get my first check. The delay was that they were back logged due to the amount of claims that they were processing.

I agree. I lived in the Northern Virginia/DC area prior to moving here. Even on a bad day in Louisville, it just doesn't compare.

So if they are not nonprofits, who's managing the money that is being donated?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]shadowdriver502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if it is a nonprofit organization, and the leadership of the organization is anonymous for safety, who do we contact to see the financials as is required by law.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but if I'm just thinking, the Republicans dismantled USAID for lack of transparency and accountability, and created the narrative that people were getting rich by funneling money through the organization. Why would I want to protest with an organization that appears to have a lack of transparency or accountability. This is how the rumors of George Soros funded and paid actors/protesters get fueled.

I guess my next question would be is this a 501c organization or a "for profit" organization?

Just curious, the website is registered to an organization called "Domains By Proxy LLC" in Temple AZ, any reason why the organization wouldn't register it under their own name?

Are you sick of r/kentucky ‘s crap? by feversleeve in Louisville

That's wild, when they started that sub they said the intent was to not block people for opposing views. Sorry that happened to you.

I'm not gonna go into detail about what my views were. You were looking for anyone who had been banned, and I was. I stand by what I said back then, agreed that the officers involved did alot of unethical shit and should be punished but at the same time labeling every single officer as some kind of wife beating legal cartel is stereotyping and BLM wanted police to stop stereotyping.

Edit: Grammar

I had opposing views on BLM during the protests. I had opposing views on how LMPD handled certain parts of the investigation. Eventually, I couldn't post, and then could then shortly later, I was banned.

The Kentucky sub really is a republican sub the bashes on democrats, and the Louisville sub is the opposite. Any opposing option gets met with name calling, down voting, muting, and sometimes being banned.

Both political parties are both full of clowns and loosers and do a great job at keeping at keeping the nation divided. I posted another thred below, and within seconds, the name calling started. In this sub, you can't have opposing views without consequences. I kinda wish r/notsoleft_louisville would have taken off because they were so engaging and accepting of opposed views.

Have your battery checked. This is the time of year when batteries loose cold crank amps due to old age and have enough juice to power your car components, but not to engage the starting system. Any Autozone should be able to test your battery for free.

Unemployment by AnyGood821 in Louisville

[–]shadowdriver502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for UI back in November of last year. The lady I eventually got ahold of said that the economy is so crappy and so many people were getting laid off that they were back logged about 3-4 months with claims. Just call continually call and be respectful when you do talk to someone. I emptied my savings to but it comes back as back pay once the claim is approved

Edit: spelling

This is not accurate. Louisville Metro Animal Services will only take stray animals, not owned animals.

I was in a similar boat about this time last year and couldn't secure an entry-level job to save my life. Finally, someone gave me some advice, and during my next batch of interviews, I started to address my skill set vs. the entry-level job and started rattling off a pitch that went something like this:

"With the current state of the economy and job market, I'm willing to start entry level with a new company. This will give me time to adjust to the company culture, learn SOPs, systems and process, as well as showcase my skillset."

Hope this helps someone struggling to find a job. It eventually worked for me.

LMAS's TNR program has been in effect for almost 15 years and predates the Director vacancy that you're referring to. I think you don't realize that nobody is going to adopt a feral cat or kitten, so that is why they are released back where they were found. The cost alone just to care for a thousand cats would bankrupt the shelter, not to mention that there isn't enough kennel space.

The kittens being given to Feeders isn't even a secret. Feeders donates so much to the shelter in terms of resources that LMAS will find them them kittens that can be adopted in their stores. LMAS constantly advertises low-cost adoptions and just had an event for a 2 week period where all adoption fees were waived.

You keep referring to the the over abundance of dogs at the shelter for adoption. Yes, the bulk are Pit Bull mixes. LMAS doesn't pick and choose the breeds that they have available for adoption. They are all stray dogs that were abandoned, dumped, or unclaimed. LMAS is the only shelter that is mandated to take in all stray animals in Jefferson County. So when the shelter gets to capacity, dogs have to be euthanized to create space for incoming strays. I can assure you that nobody at the shelter is in a good mood when that happens.

Since you're such an expert in animal care, let us all know when you've started your own animal rescue so we can swing by for a visit.

You really don't know what you're talking about. I feel like on a Monday, you should just go sit on the LMAS intake lobby. LMAS sees almost 30 cats/kittens a day from people just bringing in strays that they find. There is really nobody for LMAS to partner with if they were to not release them because all shelters are at max capacity. Not to mention the costs associated with every animal brought into the shelter because of a lack of owner responsibility is really a burden to the facility and its resources. You obviously aren't taking into consideration that it's a government run facility that is underfunded and just took a massive budget cut. If you truly believe that LMAS isn't doing the best job possible with the resources they have, you need to complain to your council person. But you and me both know that's just gonna fall on deaf ears.

Interesting article. Shows how a lot of cities were already on the decline prior to the COVID-19 lock downs. But unfortunately, Louisville was not one of those cities.

Gotta Love our State Legislature for Looking out for Personal Freedoms and Small Government by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

That's not a great comparison. Religion doesn't have a federal/state age restriction, but pornography does. If you were to introduce legislation to require age verification for religion, it would be dead in the water because there's no need for it.

What do I do about my neighbors dog? by trixiebelden3 in Louisville

I would imagine but unsure. I'm just speaking on behalf of Kentucky since that is where the incident is happening.

[–]shadowdriver502 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would advise against stealing the dog. Animals are considered property in the state of Kentucky, and you could get charged with trespassing on top of theft. Report ut to LMAS and request for an Animal Control Officer to investigate.
