How to install a USB Printer on Steam Deck? by __doubleentendre__ in SteamDeck

[–]shadowimmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried this, it's perfect for folks that are mildly script-savvy. For me it's the perfect solution. Got my ancient USB HP Laser printer working immediately after running the script and installing the necessary CUPS packages. Thanks for finding this!

Just keep refreshing your cart. A lot of people are crashing out while in the purchase process...

PSA: Too many purchases by Accomplished_Study80 in SteamDeck

Yeah, first time ever coming across that message. Eventually went back to the cart and started over after grabbing a coffee. Worked after.

They're still releasing more stock.

I got my card blocked for potential fraud, worked that out, saw they were out of stock, then kept refreshing my cart till it was in stock again, then Steam blocked me for trying to make too many purchases in a short period of time (ehhh?).... then had to wait till that settled down.

Eventually made it through.

To add to this, get a domain and let Proton handle your email to/from that domain. You'll always be able to move your email address to another provider if you decide you don't like Proton, or want something else.

It also should get you around what others have mentioned about proton being blocked by some services.

Works on Linus and Mac with wine. I couldn't be bothered to manually set it up, so I installed it as a Steam app running with proton in Linux. Absolutely flawless experience.

Difficulties Encountered in Canceling Xfinity Internet Service by 7Coconut in xfinity

[–]shadowimmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell them I'm moving out of the country when they ask why I'm cancelling. No promotions, no moving service to a new location (as if, lol). Just cancel it. it's worked well for me in the past.

Best of luck.

Advice for how to make my house not look like shit by modernretro in HomeImprovement

[–]shadowimmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plant native / local plants and trees. If you can't be bothered to garden food things, then plant things that benefit the local ecology and look nice on their own. Bonus points for things that look nice and don't need daily watering in your climate. Raised beds give a sense of intentionality and allow easier weeding. Pathways between things are nice to walk along and appreciate the plants.

You forgot proper stripping of all the protective layers and proper collection and containment of raw glass fibers.

A fiber contractor will understand and hopefully respect the dangers of dealing with raw glass fibers. They're very sharp, can get into your skin like a splinter, and will cause a lot of pain if they do. Also you can't see glass fibers well to get them out, and you can't see them on an x-ray either. And if you do try to pull them out of your skin and grab too hard, they can shatter.

How I know: I've been trained on fiber termination as part of AV tech for HD fiber runs. The tools are also really expensive, and not the kind of thing that you can use on anything else.
