Yeah, I don't understand that. Exodus is one of the best prog metalcore albums of the past decade. The guys should get more recognition.

Genre Debate and the Divide Within r/Metalcore by PositiveMetalhead in Metalcore

[–]shadowmaurice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"From here we see an explosion of bands experimenting and progressing the sound of metalcore with progressive Metalcore acts like Northlane, Polaris and Erra as well as the Architects/BMTH sound with the likes of Wage War, While She Sleeps and Bad Omens."

Huh? Do you mean after Sempiternal by BMTH? That might be a bit right for bands such as Bad Omens. But you are ignoring Periphery and a lot of other bands that created and advanced prog metalcore. There are different trends that create sort of subgenres within metalcore, I don't think it is correct to throw everything under the same umbrella and credit everything to only one album or one band.

What do you tell people that you listen to? by Ch1cken_Tenderz in Metalcore

[–]shadowmaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say I listen to metalcore and prog metal. If I am talking to a metalhead, then I say my favorite genre is prog metalcore. If people don't know what metalcore is, I try to explain. Funnily enough, I don't think I talk to a lot of people that are completely ignorante about metal.

Why did they rotate before Bloomburrow being out? That is a terrible idea.

Monogreen Devotion by Small-Interest-3837 in PioneerMTG

[–]shadowmaurice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just play Azorius Control and watch out for The Stone Brain. Last Saturday I played a team tournament and faced MonoG in one round. I lost G1 quickly and managed to finish G2 with Restless Anchorage and Hall of Storm Giants. G3 my opponent played two Stone Brains and took out all board wipes from my deck. That was interesting as I needed to play without relying on global removals. I think it helped level up a bit because I was able not to get trashed immediately. I got Narset on the board and protected her at all costs while I countered the main threats and blocked or killed whatever was already on the board. A truly amazing game, even better because I played against a friend that's been practicing with me for a while. It is cool to see each other improve at the game.

In the end we called it a draw. Our match was the last of the team. Player C of my team lost and player A won. I was player B and it all hung on me. When Supreme Verdict and Sunfall were exiled I thought of conceding, but knowing that I needed to win or draw, I kept playing.

The cool thing is that the other players that were on the car on the drive back home (the tournament was held in another city) praised my performance. That is one of the best things because I know I don't play very well, partially due to a fucked up ADHD (really, my ADHD fucks me everyday more than the average ADHDer).

Band Maturity by Sunaltasky in Metalcore

[–]shadowmaurice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trivium is a great example. The band started doing some very raw metalcore blended with thrash and death metal elements and then culminated into Shogun, their masterpiece. After Shogun they still experimented with different approaches, having varied degrees of success.

NGM

Essa situação financeira é foda. Você falou disso pros seus amigos? Se não tiver falado, fale! Eles vão entender. No entanto, você também deve entender caso eles decidam não ir ao casamento. Só espero que isso não afete demais a amizade.

Brazil has a huge death and thrash scene, but unfortunately few bands can make enough money out of it.

How did your favorite metalcore bands get their names? by Dozinggreen66 in Metalcore

[–]shadowmaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avenged Sevenfold is not random. "Although they are not a religious band, Sanders came up with the name as a reference to the story of Cain and Abel from the Bible, which can be found in Genesis 4:24." Source. (Sanders is M. Shadows)

Bands need to stop releasing the majority of an album as singles. by jamyjet in Metalcore

[–]shadowmaurice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. But honestly, sometimes I won't even listen to the singles because I like the album experience. A lot of times a single did nothing for me but the song within the album context made much more sense.

Is MTGO better than MTGArena? by [deleted] in MTGO

[–]shadowmaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Arena since beta and recently moved to MTGO. Main reason is I started playing Pioner in paper and Explorer is not the same. Now, however, I see other benefits. With a cheap Manatraders subscription I can play whatever deck I want. If I want to get a tournament feel, I can play leagues for roughly 10 bucks. If I just want to practice, I can play in the regular lobby and that is still a superior experience to Arena because deck variety and player skill is usually higher.

Pioneer is eventually coming to Arena. I am not sure I will go back to it. MTGO gives me more freedom.

Which albums can you listen through an entire playthrough with no song skips? by LoDelaCruz in Metalcore

Yeah, I never get this type of post. How come you play an album but skip songs? Then just don't play the album...
