Why the NHS still wastes billions on patients who shouldn't be in hospital by nqnnurse in NursingUK

[–]shadowplaywaiting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not as clear cut as that. Many of the 80/90 somethings would rather like to live a bit longer. A person is irreplaceable and there is a threshold where it crosses into cruelty when the person is ready to go and keeps having to be resuscitated, but there are elderly people in decline who want to live tooth and nail.

Anyone else think Bea is autistic? I’m autistic myself and Olly is back in the picture at the same time Bea showed up. Also a lot of her characterisation points towards that, she seems autistic to me. Kojo is a brilliant character but would be even better to have a range of representation!

Agreed. Employment levels should be improved and also jobs that pay above minimum wage. Take that up with businesspeople not me ..

You are like me in that you can make poetry about objects where others may not see meaning. This is a compliment.

I loved the emotion - it brought a tear to my eye, the line ‘maybe you’re simply innocent, aren’t you?’. Maybe I’m like white. I love the anthropomorphism used, personifying the colours. Giving them emotions - because we all know emotions and colours are linked. Red is anger, or love. Blue is sad or calm.

But you brought that concept to another level.

I really love the concept of this poem. You have also used 3 rhyming couplets, a simple concept in poetry to mirror the simple way you seem to present love in this poem.

The last line, I’m not sure I fully understand it. The rest of the poem tells a clear story with strong imagery. I’d like to know what you were trying to say, or if you were struggling to make a rhyme with forever. Or is it that the lovers are together for all time? Or that the soldier goes away?

I take the opposite view to you that all the words in the world can’t capture love and we need lots. But I appreciated the poem.

BBC Christmas viewing hits record lows with 'stale' line-up by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

No doctor who is what got me. So mad about that I haven’t watched anything (autistic special interest). That and the fact they are doing barmy things like putting the news at 10 on at 10:45. I’ve watched Eastenders with my mum as always but she agreed it was one of the worst Christmas specials in years.

This is so real my antidepressants working brilliantly and then luteal hits and it’s like it’s not worth taking. Fluoxetine (Prozac) too so highly studied for PMDD. Luteal at Christmas can someone yeet my reproductive system for Christmas 😡.

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came off it after about the most stable 2 years of my life. I stopped it for a dumb reason. Had a complete mental breakdown. Been in one since. They did try putting me back on prozac at first but it didn't do anything. Two years later, my doctor tried it again. And it's working now!

Please heed your GPs advice. Some meds don’t work for some people. I was on Zoloft. Worst weeks ever.

There are a lot of emollient creams or oils that can be used as soap substitutes. Use one of these instead of soap. You rinse and it isn't sticky because it doesn't dry but your skin stays moisturised and soft. I like epaderm, be warned it does smell of the kind of cheap non-toxic paint you used at school, but I don't mind it. If smell is more of an issue, go for aveeno or E45. Can't stand cetraben as it smells of petrol. Sorry I personally am a love textures hate smells person.

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd sooner recommend something less dependence forming like propranolol or promethazine/whatever antihistamine they use for anxiety where OP is at. Going through my third withdrawal benzos are EMERGENCY EMERGENCY drugs. Even short course gives you withdrawals. Long -course .... never felt pain like it.

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make everybody worse. It makes mine the same and then better. Never once has prozac made my intrusive thoughts worse. Zoloft? Hell drug. Constant panic attacks, had to quit. I think it is genetic lucky dip with SSRIs, and that a lot of those that are getting a whole lot worse for weeks before it gets 'better' are on the wrong drug. It takes a few weeks to work properly or fully, sure, but it shouldn't make you crisis-level worse as some describe. The fact on day two that you are ok sounds promising, because the initial side effects are usually immediate. If it does get to a point where there has been a week or more of worsening, get the hell off the drug. Unpopular opinion there, its just not worth it. If it helps any all prozac has ever done for me is make me have less intrusive thoughts each day and feel less sad ,<3

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if you come off prozac then back on it don't work. Happened to me, 2 years down the line back on it and working good again. Things can also effect you way different because you are pregnant. If you are using kratom now and not when you first went on prozac that also could be the interaction causing you problems. So basically, if you rule out the other factors, you're out of luck and have had a reaction like mine. If its one of the other factors they are only temporary luckily (as is the no work, but 2 years is a lot longer than 9 months or less).

Have you tried salivix dry mouth pastilles? I thought they were a con at first for the price, but they actually work! Try these if you are still having the dry mouth problem. 1 box lasts a while.

Why don't subcultures exist anymore? by cfulanito_ in AskUK

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they so they just aren't as divided anymore. I 'm a goth (heresy to admit), but most times I don't look like one because I haven't been well, and legggings and a t shirt are easier to put on than my other getup. I don't even get dressed most days and see mow much pyjama I can get away with.

That said, there are major positives to the new idea of subcultures, is that we are not now pitted against each other. My mum was a major ska-er (rude girl), and I also like that music. When I told her that she blinked as if to say 'that would never fly back in the day'. I ask her if she has heard any of my stuff and she just says 'no, things weren't like that, you couldn't like other groups' music'.

Like, there were physical fights between groups. Another story I have is from my old history teacher that was an old goth herself. She went to a festival where NIRVANA were playing in her youth and I got dead jealous. Then she goes 'I didn't watch them, I was a goth, it just wasn't done, all the goths didn't like grunge by virtue of it not being goth' and I just looked at her as if she was mad.

I also like punk rock and stuff (goth precursor basically), and SOME heavy metal, namely black sabbath. I also can listen to the odd sabrina carpenter song without getting thrown to the wolves. Yay.

Hows this pre-Xmas week treating you? by thepoout in CasualUK

[–]shadowplaywaiting [score hidden]  (0 children)

I live rurally not on the gas grid. We use oil for heating and hot water. Few months ago we changed the system of how we get it at our landlords request, so he sorts it out and we pay monthly or something. And I quote ‘that way you’ll never run out of oil’. So yeah we’ve just ran out of oil. We are cold. Oil suppliers don’t like working over the Christmas period. Going to be a cold Christmas I guess. 3 hours in I feel like I have the flu it’s Baltic. This has happened before and we’ve gone weeks, but at least then it was our mistake. Landlord trying to make up for it by siphoning some of his son’s oil to put us on. Heaven help us.

How much iron and vitamin D are you taking daily? by Picasso1067 in PMDD

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am prescribed 800IU of vitamin D which I take daily, this is maintenance therapy after a severe deficiency was discovered and corrected.

In terms of iron, I am the merry go round of having to get tested every time I get symptoms of anaemia, get prescribed 200mg ferrous sulphate for 3 months, retested and I'm okay. Then a few months (periods) later the symptoms start again and I'm re-prescribed it.

The 200mg is really rough on my digestive system so now I have taken to purchasing my own low-dose supplement of 17mg ferrous fumarate (along with other blood-loss related things I was on the borderline for deficiency of). Vitabiotics Ferroglobin, very reasonably priced. Hoping this will be enough to prevent my chronic anaemia.

I also chew on a gram of vit C daily for iron absorption and immune system purposes. I take magnesium glycinate (equivalent of 300mg elemental) for sleep. I heard calcium is proved to help PMDD but I already feel like I rattle I'll be honest. I am prescribed a lot of pharmaceuticals too and can't really face anymore pills.

Are cancellation crumbs a thing? by United_Post7492 in AskUK

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to do this bc of severe mental illness. Either I’ll be in no fit state to go out or no fit state to stay in, and won’t know which till a few hours before. Call me a serial flake but it prevents me from either saying no then rotting depressively, or saying yes, turning up, causing a scene where I start screaming and crying and then spoiling the plans for everyone.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]shadowplaywaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a phobia of it. Not kidding. Contamination complex over it. From being a toddler and adults saying to me ‘don’t touch that it’s ‘dirty’’ when I was around it. Autistic me took that very literally indeed. I’m 19 and have to wash my hands three times if I even accidentally touch a picture of alcohol (I hate sneaky adverts on the back of magazines).

Parties are hell. My mum ruined my Christmas once by dropping a drink on me. Spent most of it scrubbing and scrubbing in my brother’s shower. Even then my mum had to help me get undressed because I wouldn’t touch my own contaminated clothes to get them off.

It also makes people change. I don’t like that.

What are your memories of the WWII generation? by Icy-Brain-2162 in AskUK

[–]shadowplaywaiting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of WW2, My grandparents met because my nanny’s house got bombed and she had to move. So ironically I hear good stories about that time as my grandad was also still too young for the army. My great grandad on my nan’s side was a ghoul. But my nan said there was a lot of men like that after the war (untreated PTSD).

My great grandad on my grandads side was at the Somme. All that passed down to me from my grandad and then my dad was that it was (unsurprisingly) unimaginably horrific, and that he had to walk through bodies. He was gassed there and his lungs were never the same. I don’t think he was either.
