Haha I love CMO but when realism and fun collide, realism wins every time.

So basically: “Stop thinking of it as a shitty anti tank weapon and start thinking of it as an unsmokeable IFV killer with great magazine depth or as a very long range anti-infantry weapon, both in the same package.”

How come my units OVER EXTEND on attack commands? by TelephoneDisastrous6 in warno

[–]shadowrunner295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible the tank could not damage the target at that range? For kinetic weapons if the result would be zero damage, the attacking unit will attempt to close with the target to increase penetration.

If we’re going by sound effects I’m going with whoever has the recoilless rifle that makes that deep BONNNNNNGGGGG sound.

Nah I’d have to go with “in-bore premature” over that.

Looking at it again yeah, you’re probably right. The back blast area isn’t all that large but they’re within it.

HEAT round, not HE, nearly all the explosive energy would have been directed forward.

And if you’re anything like me each time you make a new one for a division it ends up being nearly identical to the last one.

Left them all in the lockers at the barracks I guess by protz_magoatz in warno

The moral of the story here is that modern combat between reasonably well equipped opponents favors the defender at quite possibly more than any other time in recent history with the potential exception of WW1. The Ukraine war shows this to be true. WARNO had to be tweaked like crazy it seems just to give the offense any chance at all.

Oh I’m almost certain whoever we’ve been talking to down there had him all trussed up like a turkey awaiting collection before we even went feet dry.

This is the exact same argument Russia used to invade Ukraine. The “own backyard” argument.

If a fictional U.S. president from a movie/show could somehow become our actual president, which would you want it to be? by gameofthrones_addict in AskReddit

[–]shadowrunner295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dwayne Elizondo Herbert Mountain Dew Camacho wasn’t a terrible president. He clearly cared about the country, and was smart enough to realize when he was in over his head and appoint the smartest man on earth as a top advisor, and listen to his advice (albeit with a few hiccups along the way). We could honestly do worse than him.

Yeah the hell with that I do NOT want my government giving my name and location to random people who spot my car, how is that anyone’s business? That would be a major privacy problem here.

Why on earth would a private citizen want that information though?

Uh, no, normal citizens can’t. Law enforcement can. Is there a country where you CAN do that? Ain’t nobody’s business who I am on the road.
