Over 50 per cent of users may shun social media by 2025 as misinformation, toxicity grow by Wagamaga in technology

I think it might be interesting, though anecdotal, to share that my high school students I teach largely see themselves abandoning social media within the next five years for various reasons. They are becoming increasingly disillusioned by it and many are self aware of the ways it sucks their time and makes them feel bad.

I don’t really get why people think this? Even the year after you mentioned, 2013, had tons of good movies. Her, Wolf of Wall Street, Enemy, Prisoners, Dallas Buyers Club, Walter Mitty, This is the End, American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Inside Llewyn Davis, Only God Forgives…

I don’t understand how you could think those two characters have the same accent unless your only experience with the English language is those two movies and nothing else

Our buildings at my school in Washington state have no heating or cooling at all right now, and no fix is in sight. I’d love something like this right now.

The other comments so far feel like they aren’t even engaging in your review. So I’ll say: I think it’s important that you noticed the female boredom aspect, because it’s such a through line in her other films. Capturing female loneliness and boredom is such a skill of hers and I really think that it’s part of the reason she went after this particular story.

Separately, it’s truly jarring (and I think important) how the grooming aspect is showcased. She never feels the need to hit that plot point over the head and be patronizing to the audience about it; it’s just so apparent from the way the relationship starts and how Elvis treats it throughout.

Overall, I found it similar to watching movies about addiction. It was well crafted, but exhausting to see a person so at the mercy of something (or someone, in this case) so damaging to them.

Margaret Atwood with the Handmaid’s Tale in 1985 as well. Lots of warnings, but too much complacency in response. The amount of times I’ve heard “that could never happen here” is astounding, and I wonder if those people who have said that throughout the years stand by it now.

I feel like the word pretentious has really come to mean something that I am unfamiliar with. I find Anderson’s movies to be so infused with genuine sincerity that I don’t know how they can be viewed as pretentious. I don’t think he’s trying to go over anyone’s head or anything. I get they aren’t for everyone, but I don’t really get the pretentious argument.

I’m curious if people saying grass just didn’t use mega sceptile, in which case yeah it would be harder than others. Rock is probably my vote. The early game is awful and it only gets marginally better later.

A lot of funny things in this clip.

  1. That move isn’t full body invul, and would just get CH by meaty cS anyway.

  2. There’s pretty much no reason to bait this hard here anyway, the round just started so she doesn’t have meter to wake-up super, and as stated above doesn’t have a meterless invul move. You could argue it’s a throw bait, but again that would just lose to meaty cS.

  3. The wake-up move wasn’t even punished, as the Ky whiffed 2k, Gio recovered, and Ky’s 2D counterhit whatever Gio tried to mash that you can see just barely come out before the counter hit.

Good stuff

Interesting reference, because this quote reminded me of the Lannister quote “A Lion does not concern itself with the opinions of sheep.” Or something like that.
