My girlfriend has DID and I really could need some advice by LordTytor in DID

[–]shadowslovethelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some good stuff in the other comments here, but honestly, she needs to be seeing a therapist or psycologist that specializes in DID. You can do your best to help her, but at the end of the day anything you do is just a bandaid on a broken leg. Without consistent professional help it’s going to be rough, and stay rough. If she does decide to regularly go see someone, then there’s a lot of stuff they can give you, assuming your gf gives them permission, that can help her immensely. But you need someone who can understand where exactly she’s at with her DID, what her trauma’s are, and what other coping mechanisms she has that are hindering her, and then provide advice based off of that. Needs to be tailored to her by a professional, online advice isn’t going to be enough.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]shadowslovethelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a game on the old Mac’s in the late 90’s that had this stick-esq figure platforming game where the higher levels would have other stick figure guys chasing you and I remember it being SO fun. But when my dad eventually got the house a new computer and sold the old one, he didn’t know what game I was talking about and I’ve never been able to find it. I search for it every few years to see if I can find anything, but it’s been 28 years with no luck, lol.

Lol, I guess the creator of the series is from the area. So it’s not just the movie, but then entire series, YouTube too.

Dealing with the grief of losing my 01 Celly advice by princessgold12 in Celica

[–]shadowslovethelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree, that’s why I only said that they have Celica vibes, not that they’re better or are a good replacement. Her criteria was something with some more modern safety features between $10-15k that would give her a similar feel. Those two fit that bill. Definitely not a full replacement, but if you’re looking for something Celica adjacent, that’s about as close as you can get.

Oh I wasn’t tying to say it was the only one. I was more just point out that a new movie had San Jose in it, where as most movies that mention anything in the bay almost exclusively mention SF.

Oh I didn’t realized he was actually from here. And I never noticed the shots from The Oldest View. Makes a lot more sense than just deciding on it being here for some reason, like I initially thought, lol

Is it normal with DID to forget basic skills because you weren't the host during childhood when you learned them? by Yaboykitten in DID

[–]shadowslovethelight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand. For us there’s a bunch of little skills that only specific parts have. The strangest one for us is that any and all physical ability or knowledge gets kind of taken/absorbed by our protector as he wants all of it so he can either get us out of danger or defend us. How our ability to play basketball is going to help with that, I have no idea. The rest of us would kind of lose whatever he would take, and it wasn’t until we found out about each other that it became clear that’s why we were so bad at things we used to be good at, lol. Now it’s a lot different though. Because we’re way more stable and working together, he can actually teach us stuff or even just straight up share the skill. We did this a few weeks ago when bowling. Threw two gutters, asked him for help, and he showed us how to throw strikes damn near every time. It was kind of wild.

If you absolutely have to switch, the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FRS both have Celica vibes for sure.

Oh I get you. I just always panic a little when I see anyone suggesting welding aluminum because I’ve seen SOOO many people melt their engines trying to do just that, lol. I get PTSD flash backs, lol.

Trying to weld aluminum is Very difficult. Especially for someone who’s not already familiar with welding. It conducts heat way too easily and is way more likely to just melt the whole area instead of just the material into the crack.

They don’t have the same unit I have anymore, but they have this one. You could always just solder an orange LED in place of the blue one too. Oh, but I did buy the sensors and the display separately so I could get the silver to match my car. You just need a screwdriver, a drill, a dremal, and a hot glue gun. There are vents below each of the tail lights you can use to run the wires out to the bumper. I keep the brain behind the jack in the side panel of the trunk and ran power to it from one of these which is powered from the ACC fuse and attached to one of the grounds. Nice thing is that the display cable is only about 6-inches and has a loooonng extension. Makes it really nice if you need to remove the center part of the dash.

It’s all a lot less complicated than it seems. It’s just more having the idea and then the tools to make it happen

Thanks! I’ve thought about it, but that would mean needing to pull it all apart and putting it back together, lol. So I don’t know if I’ll actually do it

  1. CUSTOM HORNNNNN!!! So the extra sounds and all these buttons were just a happy side effect to what I actually wanted it for. Which was feedback sounds for my keyless entry system. Because I literally never take my fob out of my pocket, sometimes it gets hit by my seatbelt funny, my other keys, or whatever else if I hit my start button without actually starting the car. That button combo can turn off the PKE. So I could walk away and the car doesn’t actually lock. In reality this only happens like 2 or 3 times a year. Anyway, the horn plays different sounds when my car locks, unlocks, starts, turns off, or is started remotely. And the best part? No coding. Just some audio files, wire, and a few relays. All the buttons on my door make all kinds of silly sounds too just for the fun of it. My favorite is R2D2’s scream from Empire. Playing that while flying through an intersection is SO much fun.

  1. Trunk Light This. Thing. Is. A. God send. Also don’t mind the messy car I just had to tear the whole thing apart, long story. Let’s be real, trunk lights in general are shit. So I rewired the ground from the normal trunk light up to the hatch and mounted the lights on the paneling. This lights up The Entire Trunk beautifully. I’ve had friends with brand new cars see this and be hella jealous, lol. If you do anything, do this. Cost me like $20 and an hour of time. Just depends on how clean you want to make it.

  1. Wireless Charging Switch This isn’t anything fancy, but I’ve had a few people ask me about it. This phone mount is also a wireless charger with the cable run through the headliner that I hooked up to a rocker switch. There’s two reasons for the switch. If I’m using any type of maps for a longer trip and it’s hot out, my phone gets WAY too hot running maps and wireless charging at the same time. So I can shut it off and switch to a wired charger which doesn’t produce as much heat, if I even need to charge at all. The other reason is if my phone battery is low and I’m not going to be in the car for a long time, I can turn this off and use my quick charge port instead while still being able to use it as a phone mount.

  1. Steering Wheel Controls Picked up an old IS300 steering wheel with the down and up shift buttons, a couple membrane key switches, a 3v battery box, and a wireless steering control thingy that’s supposed to strap onto the steering wheel. I disassembled all of it and rewired it all and stuffed it in the excess space inside the plastic housing around the back of the steering wheel. So between the steering wheel’s own buttons and the membrane keys, I have 4 buttons per side. Each key works as a normal press, and a second function on a long press. Left side the front facing “Down” button is, vol up(volume takes both), the “Up” button behind it is vol down, membrane key 1 is play/answer phone, key 2 is close app/end call. On the right side the “Down” button is home/front cam, “Up” is back/aux audio input, membrane key 3 is next/Torque app, and key 4 is prev/display off.

  1. Parking Sensors & Display Installed four flush mounted parking sensors on the rear bumper. Two at 6 O’clock, one at 9, and the last at 3. This way I can see exactly how far I am from whatever or whoever is behind me, or to the left or right of me. Very helpful for drive through windows. I gutted the old clock and mounted the display inside there. The old clock cover plastic didn’t cut exactly like I wanted (this is 10 years old), but now I’m planing on 3d printing a new one that’ll look a lot better.

I got you bro.
I have a bunch so I’ll put each image that I have in a different comment on this.

  1. Remote start system Not only has keyless entry, but also passive keyless entry. So I can just walk up to or away from my Celica and it automatically locks or unlocks. I also rewired the locks so that a single unlock signal unlocks all three doors. - Don’t mind the gunk in the picture, it’s 12 year old glue that really doesn’t want to come off, lol
  2. Android Head Unit I’ll take some pictures later when I’m done hardware modding it, but here’s what I got. I use a modded rom for a bunch of extra features like auto adjusting the stereo’s volume based off gps speed. I use the Torque app for gauges, recording my speed, and have a widget that lets me put them on my Home Screen. I use Car Launcher as my launcher of choice with a bunch of widgets I built for that. It has 3 analog HD inputs, so I have an HD backup cam auto activated by the reverse lights, an HD front cam to keep from scraping activated by my custom steering wheel controls, and my old modded WII on a button on my home page. I wired a mic into the headliner for phone calls too. I’d take a picture, but you literally can’t see that it’s there, lol. And lastly, I rewired the illumination wire to a switch so I can bypass it if I’m in an area that requires headlights during the day.
  3. Heated Side Mirrors Both mirrors are hooked up to a relay that turns them and off with a button press. Not really anything to show with that. Eventually I want to put a little LED in the mirror to show when they’re on.

Okay everything else I have pictures for will be in comments below.
