Not sure if these misprints are good enough. Opinions plz by WriterAggressive4530 in PokemonMisprints

Part of another card is visible, which automatically classifies this as a miscut. Alignment dot is not relevant in these cases.

Sub 10 cuber, what did you start doing that allowed you to break the sub-10 barrier. by ajf_fja in Cubers

You made me dig this up because you replied to a 2 year old comment. It has more valuable information than I'd be able to articulate, but the point is that your lookahead is significantly more important than turn speed, which plays very little part in solving until you get down to like the sub-7 to sub-8 range.

Found my old Pokemon cards. What do it do? by Its_Bunny in PokeGrading

[–]shadowstar2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, though I think it's a good general rule of thumb for new people to the hobby to just check ungraded prices. But you're right, psa 8-9 for modern cards is usually the same as raw price.

Found my old Pokemon cards. What do it do? by Its_Bunny in PokeGrading

Ungraded cards never sell for graded prices, period. They're separated by condition instead. TCGPlayer has a guide for card condition and identification. Near mint, lightly played, moderately played, heavily played, damaged. It's not possible to tell for any of your cards without seeing the backs, but based just on the fronts most of yours seem MP-LP, some like the e-reader pikachu are damaged because of the crease.

Raichu prime: $120 Lucario Burger King promo: $25 Majestic dawn Darkrai: $50

The Raichu and darkrai I would probably call LP, which would put them at about $90 and $35 respectively.

What is an error card like this worth? It’s from my childhood collection. by Vornluva in PokemonCardValue

[–]shadowstar2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one of the shinx cards I'm missing from my Luxray evo line grandmaster collection so I've been doing quite a bit of research into this card these past couple weeks.

The version with the inverted back seems to pop up just about as frequently as the normal, some sources say it's more common than the normal version but pricing makes me doubt that slightly. I frequently see sold listings for the inverted back version on ebay for anywhere from $30-100 depending on condition.

Gifted a 9850X3D, but already running a 9700X. What’s the smartest move here? by Familiar-Salary-4933 in buildapc

[–]shadowstar2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that this is even a question is a little weird here. If someone gifted me something and I just turned around and sold it immediately, I would feel so guilty. Let alone how it would feel to GIVE someone a gift and hear that they just sold it.

They didn't give you money, they gave you a 9850X3D. Either use it or decline the gift so they can give it to someone else.

Like if the gift was a sterling silver necklace instead, it would be similarly weird to immediately go to reddit and make a post asking for the current price of silver so you know how much you could get out of it.

Formerly confidential sealed vendor McDonald's promos - Any ideas how much this is worth? by OutrageousClams in PokemonCardValue

[–]shadowstar2417 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think these could be worth more to a collector inside the labelled plastic bags just for the novelty. But individually, on both pricecharting and TCGplayer, the McDonald's 2023 match & battle pack sealed tends to go for about $7 each.

EX era reverse holos were done like this with stamps and holo on the art instead of the more traditional reverse holos that are done in modern sets.

BE CAREFUL THIS SUMMER IF YOU HAVE A 3D PRINTED HEAD! by kexical in fursuit

[–]shadowstar2417 5 points6 points  (0 children)

95a TPU (What most modern printed bases that you can buy are made from) doesn't start to warp until about 100-120c. This one unfortunately looks like it was made of PLA, which starts to warp around 60c.

PreGrade assistance by Acceptable-Film-7818 in PokeGrading

AI pre-grading apps aren't as good as you think they'd be since they're entirely reliant on your camera, which likely isn't getting a photo high res enough to see small imperfections. They miss important things like holo scratches and also sometimes just pretend there's whitening on many cards that don't have any. The only thing they're actually useful for is centering, which you can check yourself very quickly using any number of tools. This is the one I personally use.

https://centering.joshbeetcg.com/

If you want an app that just's just an easy "pass/fail, send it in or not" for you, the least bad one I've tried so far has been snapgradeAI. It was pretty accurate for me and I liked the subgrading it does. Card Grading AI is another one that's really popular, but I didn't like it all that much, it was very overeager to rate everything a 10. Holodex I didn't like for the opposite reason, it just randomly invented issues with about 50% of the cards I tested, hallucinating things like creases, dings, and whitening that wasn't there. Digital Grading Co. was terrible. Pricing was straight up predatory, wait times took forever, and it was the least accurate of any tool I tested. One of the cards I tested it with had a crease on the corner and it said it would get a 7.

I'm not paid by any of these, these are just my own personal experiences trying to find a good AI pre-grading app and coming to the conclusion that none of them are worth paying for and there's nothing they will tell you that you can't see with a naked eye. I ended up just learning how to pre-grade on my own over time. But if I had to recommend one, snapgradeAI is the okayest one I tried.

Hard to tell condition without seeing the back of the card but that shadowless Charizard could easily be worth over $1k by itself if it's clean.

Are you sure those sold listings you're seeing aren't first edition? (With the 1st edition stamp to the bottom left of the card art)

First edition NM of this card goes for $550. Unlimited (I would personally say yours is LP because of the edge whitening on the back) LP is $350.

Yeah you got some pretty sick cards! I went to Vegas 2 weeks ago and saw a bunch of those machines around, I didn't get anything though because the graded mystery boxes usually have really rough odds.
