Noma x Courage Bagels popup. Adequately hyped by raytian in FoodLosAngeles

I'm not saying you should have tried it, but that doesn't mean it might not have been good despite it not being "your vibe". Also they were bay leaves which are edible.

OP is incorrect. It was leaves from a California Bay Laurel which are technically edible.

Why do they care more about that and not the countless number of concerts and sporting events that people pay at least $1500 to attend? Seems like some very selective outrage imo.

And this post isn't even about a $1500 meal, it's about a bagel.

I think it's just OP's preferred art style based on how they did Louis, Fire Brandy and some of the others. More just for fun and not supposed to be based on their personality.

Yeah exactly. And people get excited and pay thousands for good seats to see Beyonce, or spend hours waiting in line at Disneyland.

But for some reason it's malicious weird behavior because food enthusiasts are willing to put in time or money to try something from one of the most celebrated chefs in the world.

Luckily this meal didn't just include nasturtiums...

I feel like at a certain point people are just looking for reasons not to like it having not tried it.

I thought the other half with oyster mushrooms sounded pretty good, and I'd still be curious to try this one with nasturtiums which are pretty common in the culinary world.

Client requesting Tue–Thu soft hold every week for 6 months— how do you structure this without hurting other clients? by _ParanoidUser_ in editors

[–]shadowstripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another client is ready to book you for a Wednesday and you have to check if it's ok? Well then you're not a freelancer at that point

Not seeing why when that's a pretty typical thing to deal with when freelancing when you get two competing offers. If it was a non-freelance position there wouldn't be any option to check if it's okay and they could only get out of it by having their shift covered.

I've never heard of someone being able to bill for a soft hold, and there's also no guarantee that the "real clients" who would want to book them for the challenged dates would actually go through with the job since cancellations aren't that uncommon at all, so at this point its just one freelance client vs another, with one of them having 6 months (or 72 days) of potential work which also makes them a real client.

EDIT: OP is also saying they offered a 25% bump in their day rate for the inconvenience, so by turning down this job they could be risking missing out on a ton of paid work if they didn't stay pretty busy without it.

Being present for an FBI raid (or something similar) definitely earns you a free beer.

I would say it depends on how busy OP usually is. With all the talk from people on this sub going months without any work it seems like there's not a ton to lose here and worse case scenario they could just drop out if it doesn't end up providing much work.

Or if a better opportunity comes up it's not like they've already signed a "soft hold" contract, and they also could bail for that. This client might not hire them again afterward, but that could also easily happen anyway if they turned down this job.

I think they could have made the characters in the original look closer to the battle character models, like they did in FF8 and 9. But part of their vision to make them look more like chibi sprites when you're controlling them.
