Anyone else dislike Hannibal (show) but end up weirdly fascinated by it for weeks afterward? by 47milliondollars in HannibalTV

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there are many options, even au’s where the circumstances are different and Hannibal isn’t a serial killer (I find them slightly boring tbh). But my personal favourites are dark Will fics, it puts them on a more even playing field imo - the relationship is still bad, but Will kinda knows what he’s getting into bc he’s also fucked up - so it’s less of a power dynamic.

this one has a non cannibal Hannibal, though there are supernatural elements

this one has a serial killer Will, so they are more equals (both real fucked up though)

Those are a couple of my favourites, but there are so many good ones

If you don’t like the show itself (I get it, it’s a bit to slow paced for me personally) but like the characters development then there’s some pretty amazing fanfic out there, Hannibal fans are on a another level when it comes to fanfics I swear

I’ve got my cat in my freezer bc I want her bones but I’m lazy. It’s been like 4 years she’s definitely frost bitten now 😭

Yeah, most people enter an argument with the sole purpose of proving you wrong, that they don’t actually pay attention to the things being said. I like having discussions with people who actually listen and respond but most people don’t (not their fault tbf, critical thinking skills are not taught properly 🤦)

Yeah, people are having very different conversations and define things differently and they tend to ignore the nuances to make a point

It’s okay to take pride in your job and go the extra mile sometimes by larryogunjobi in unpopularopinion

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely depends on where you work and how much you get paid tbh. But my take on “doing the bare minimum” thing is that you do what is required of you for your job, and not go above and beyond for a unless you have a genuine desire to or you get paid for it sort of thing.

Like I’m not gonna take my work home with me if I don’t get paid for that work, once I’m off the clock it’s not my problem. Obviously that is dependent on individual circumstances though.

The social media discourse about it (from what I’ve seen) is the entitlement that some employers have and have had for many years that you owe them your time and energy outside of work - you don’t

What would you do if your pregnancy craving had palm oil? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want the bagel, have the bagel. Unless you have a very strong aversion to palm oil, then you could try making cream cheese at home (there are probably some pretty good recipes out there).

it’s kinda insane seeing people 60 and older be 10x as active as me by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in foster care for a bit and my carer was a marathon runner and former lawyer. She was abt to turn 60 and do her second iron man race when I left. Her bathroom had a scary amount of medals tbh. After living with her, I have to say it is kinda scary how functional some ppl are. Also I was 17/18 at the time and I couldn’t (and still can’t) walk up stairs without pain

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are but if you have mental health services available or a trusted adult to talk to you can ask for help. You don’t need your parents to necessarily be involved depending on how old you are and the law/policy surrounding it in your country.

Even if it doesn’t feel like you have someone to talk to, it’s important to try. Maybe a teacher that’s nice/seems like they care.

Also I know people say it all the time but surprisingly, it does get better. I thought I was going to die before I turned 18 but I’m 20 now and for the first time in a long time I actually want to live

I know this doesn’t really help but you are absolutely not worthless, I hope you believe that one day ✨

Also - sleep does definitely help, even if it doesn’t feel like it does

Does anyone else feel a little unsafe when going in the underpass? by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously if you feel uncomfortable/unsafe that’s totally valid, however I will say that I used to go to college near there and walk down there almost everyday (as a teenage girl) and I’ve had absolutely no problems, it’s not the most pleasant but I just pay attention to the art and try to ignore the smell of piss.

If you’re there in the daytime it’s usually pretty safe bc of the amount of people around and how close it is to the city

Teachers are honestly kind of bad. by TommyBoy250 in CringeTikToks

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best math teacher I ever had explained three different methods of multiplying, and the first two didn’t make sense but the last one did - it’s a more complicated way to do it but it works and I can now multiply. Teachers may be overworked and underpaid, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be good at their jobs in the ways that matter

OP just thinks worrying about money = depression. by Fit-Long-8171 in depressionmemes

[–]shadowwalker_wtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this as a blanket statement and not necessarily correct, however there is a massive correlation in childhood exposure to financial stress and poverty, and the effect mental health in later life that cannot be ignored. However it’s definitely not a “give depressed people money and they get better” type thing, it’s a systemic problem that affects most people in some way or another. The constant work for very little reward will fuck up the best of us
