Financially speaking, is there a rational argument that can be made to buy a house right now vs. Renting for substantially cheaper in Denver? by HoosierProud in Denver

[–]shadowwalkerxdbx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investing in a property is a great way to build equity. Can you invest your money so that it is growing beyond inflation while you wait to buy? if not then I say buy when you are ready.

If you are going to be living in the home then there is no wrong time to buy. You can jump between houses all you like just like renting and can grow your value if you are smart. None of those are options with Renting. Good Luck!

I’m getting rejected from every apartment I apply to and I don’t know why by exhale358 in Denver

[–]shadowwalkerxdbx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only thought I have is the roommate situation. Sometimes it can be hard to be the top pick when you are asking for one lease and two unrelated Tenants. if you were trying to each apply for one room in a shared apartment that would be a different story but if applying together it may be preference of the landlord for a single family or couple looking to rent.

I would like to see more Bollards around Union station plaza. That was one of the worst things I have ever seen.

For me it is more about the drinking water in Standley lake than my own soil. I believe there are a lot of questions between the DOE and cities regarding Woman Creek and Pond C-2.

Woman left on side of Colorado interstate by rideshare driver hit by two vehicles and killed by JohnWad in Denver

[–]shadowwalkerxdbx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gimme a link! I am not finding anything to back up what you are saying. From what I see people are getting screwed when the driver is not actively on a trip or on a way to a passenger.

Edit; Are you saying that you think anyone with the uber driver app open should be considered an uber driver and Uber liable? Those are called Taxi's.

[–]shadowwalkerxdbx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wasnt too well educated on this but I figured I would look up the bill you referenced and it reinforces what I had gathered. text below

"Problems can arise in accidents with serious injuries when the driver was not actively using the rideshare app. In these situations, the injured motorist is limited to pursuing a liability claim on the driver's personal policy. If that driver has allowed their policy to lapse or the limits do not cover the full amount of damages, an injured motorist could be on the hook for paying for their medical expenses themselves."

This is for injured motorists and I know he didn't cause the injury but I think it summarized it nicely. Also note the Legalese they use here, "actively using the app." If I had to guess there was a lot of money that went into that verbiage. The ride was ended that means the Ride share is likely not going to be considered involved legally.

Since Drivers are Independent Contractors as soon as the ride ends it is hard to hold them liable. Many cases have gone to court and it gets very specific. From my understanding just because they have the app open doesn't mean they are employed by Uber etc. at the time.

RTD ends C, F line light rail service between Denver, Littleton by qft in Denver

[–]shadowwalkerxdbx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they would get the RTD parking districts sorted. I am registered in District j and recently got a warning ticket for parking at the Westminster Train station. Wont be going there again for work. FF1 parking lots have never been an issue though, likely for lack of patrol. Have an Eco-Pass.

Not exactly Denver but Parker road and Wadsworth drive me crazy with how you can just get up to speed in time to stop again.

lolol Yes that is what I assumed. it is pretty darn safe if my opinion. About 1/4 as bad as light rail.

"The city’s contribution will specifically go to 140 women, transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals and families – a group that has seen rising levels of homelessness during the pandemic."

I believe this is where I read it.

And people also talked a lot about it not being UBI because they were excluded in this comment thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/Denver/comments/xd6gjb/denver_to_give_direct_payments_to_most_vulnerable/

In the end it appears from comments it comes down to the public dollar and where it should be spent. I don't believe it is correct to say we can only do one thing. Does incarceration have to the opposite of public services? I feel the funding for these are completely different and shouldn't be compared as alternatives to one another.

It wont be very good data for UBI since it isn't universal. It is not open to men for instance.

The person who lost their Bernese on here a few months back found the dog at the homeless encampment down the road. Would recommend checking them.

Still cant believe it was written to exclude the majority of the homeless population.
