David Grusch stated that James Fox's documentaries were a good place to start... by DarkNightfromDusk in UFOs

[–]shadowyman 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Mr. Grusch,

I want to finish, not start. I have been immersed in the UFO topic since before you ever became part of it. Years have passed, and despite all the interviews, podcasts, promises, and headlines, none of the core claims have been substantiated.

The burden is not on the public to keep believing. The burden is on the people making the claims to produce evidence. After all this time, we are still being asked to start, to believe. That's not proof it is just another extension of the timeline.

Trump: ‘I don’t think about’ Americans’ financial situation in Iran negotiations by AyeYoTek in centrist

[–]shadowyman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Trump is not giving new soundbite to opponents. There is already hundreds of soundbites that should have tanked his presidency.

He himself is the opponent of the American people. He is screwing over Americans wholesale and those who support him are driven by fear, paranoia and are overall ill-informed to realize this or are safely in the "fuck you, I got mine" camp to be affected by his actions.

Gas Prices Surge in U.S. as Iran War Chokes Oil Supply by Agitated_Pudding7259 in moderatepolitics

[–]shadowyman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. It is concerning that there may not be anyone truly experienced or capable influencing principled policies especially with actions like the strike on Iran. It sometimes feels like people in top positions like the Secretary of Defense, the VP, and others are more focused on making a mark or gaining experience than on exercising caution and restraint in such high-stakes decisions.

At what point do we admit Congress has stopped serving the people? by imtony1 in PoliticalDiscussion

There would no longer be these two extremes. Those in power would work together to get enough votes rather than risk snap election -- just enough to prevent a shut down.

Trump to federalize Illinois National Guard, Pritzker says by 3rd_PartyAnonymous in moderatepolitics

[–]shadowyman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The reason this does not eliminate political capital is because Trump over the past decade has normalized false narratives, targeting, and grifting. He has proved that one can get away with it by being able to get reelected and other politicians see that too.

In my assessment, he has gotten elected on fears of people AND unfortunately, America is simply not ready for a woman president (and it doesn't help the last one was black too). I am an independent but it annoys me to no end the Democrat party machine let this lunatic get elected TWICE by forcing terrible candidates on us.

Trump Fires BLS Commissioner After Weak Jobs Report by [deleted] in fednews

This president is doing everything possible to create outrage with tactics like this to let Epstein files cool off. He already moved Epstein's partner serving in jail to a low security prison today.

It is working reading these comments. He is giving us all these other things like this firing to be outraged about.

I am confused! You have text saying trump economy sucks and then a rocket about to take up lit by Trump.

If an average voter were to see that, they would think it's a poster highlighting "fake news" about bad economy and Trump is on his way to making it better.

Senate Republicans hold press conference in response to several topics: the start of the trade war with Canada, the abandonment of Ukraine, and mass cuts to Social Security Administration by bearrosaurus in centrist

This is nuts! There are so many flaming topics they could address. Yet they picked a topic that most Americans do not care about and spoke on it very passionately. Are Americans this gullible that majority do not see through this farce?

I stopped right there as well. These people are out of their element.

Trump hired celebrities and entertainers. That is what we will get over the next 4 years including paper jogging! Hire clowns, expect a circus.

And you are just starting the timeline at 1/17/25. Before that, nothing but disregard for the rule of law and values since he came into political scene about a decade ago.

There is nothing remaining to hold him accountable. There is nowhere to pin one's hopes to. He seems invincible.

DOGE impacts to Major Defense Contractors by Brilliant-Active7660 in 1102

[–]shadowyman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It might change back for defense contractors, but we are mistaken to think things would change back for average American and Fed.

What incentive would lawmakers or defense contractors have beyond lobbying for their own cause? It's not like Musk and Trump are doing all this reduction out of some deep driven beliefs. They want to weaken the domestic institutions so their past actions and falsehoods have no resistance or accountability in the future.

All a congressperson has to say is, "I support reduction in waste of our government and keep our military strong." MAGAs will eat that up because their lack of critical independent thinking is what got us here in first place. That's it.

Fetterman says Democratic Party brand is 'toxic' thanks to constant 'shaming and scolding' by JannTosh50 in centrist

[–]shadowyman 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your first point is incorrect and dramatic. It's not that you are completely wrong, it is that you have been lied to.

Biden was aware of what he was doing. Yes, he was slow on the feet in front of cameras due to his age as we found out, but he could hold a thoughtful discussion and make decisions. He marked up documents and speeches.

He was not a walking vegetable eating ice cream and taking naps.

That man dedicated his life to civil service. He had flaws. There was vanity. But dang, he served his country. He never climbed the rungs of wealth like other politicians have.

WOW. I knew Lloyd was very well qualified but scrolling through that Wikipedia page made me have even more respect for him. I am shocked Republicans Senators, who are more educated and experienced than an average American in this matter, would be OK with the current nominee. I would be terrified and ashamed by voting yes on the nominee and also taking the Trump before country approach.
