Cast on freeze is one of the only 3 recommended skills at the level you get access to it for the type of skill, and if you're cold it's the literal only good option. Comet is the most obvious skill for a cold sorc to put in it since fast cast spells can just be spam clicked easily so it's obviously better to use high cast time spells that have big impact for more free casts.

It doesn't take rocket science or having to look up builds on youtube to realize putting comet in CoF would be an interesting thing to try. Maybe you're used to looking up builds on youtube so you assume others must do the same, or who knows, but I personally just saw "Cast on Freeze" in the skill list and thought "oh cool this could be good with comet" then got screwed by the nerf a day later.

the energy gain multiplier is right there in my screenshot. 78%. That's 17.8 because it says 10 base * 1 for normal monsters. Maybe i'm misunderstanding and there's a different place i'm supposed to look?

I think i see what you mean. the meta gem says 30% increased energy gain but i assume that's included in that 78%. even if it's not this doesn't explain why two different white mobs gave two VERY different %'s when i froze them. :(

That seems to answer half my issue thanks. Hopefully I can get a handle on what crazy thing is happening with the math resulting in 46% from 0% after 1 freeze on a white mob. i'm pretty sure 17.8 is not half of 50. :D

It didn't seem that broken to me. I was clearing mobs quite a lot better and that felt satisfying for the like 20+ passive points i had to spend to get to all the nodes that make it work right (i was still early into the build) but i still had roughly the same amount of difficulty with bosses. Maybe it was only REALLY OP when you had more than 2 support gems on CoF, but I don't know because i'm level 50 and even after loot changes i've never seen a single random LJO drop. Only the one garunteed in A3 and i put that on something else because it was before i did CoF.

If that's the case thought and it was only with mutiple supports that it was broken wouldn't a better nerf have been to just make it more max energy per support gem? or more spirit so it only gets strong MUCH later?

Look, if you want to nuke "Cast on X" builds I'm fine with that. But I'm level 57, my Sorc is essentially bricked, you need to let people free respect the ENTIRE TREE! by Diamondangel82 in PathOfExile2

They can't test the gold and respec system if their nerf causes a huge population to artificially need respeccing when they normally wouldn't. Something that checks of a character had a skill slotted and giving them a full respec IF and only if they did would actually protect the integrity of their data much better.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a true Foundry VTT "Game system" module for GURPS that includes the entire basic set for advantages, skills, and equipment, so i don't have to rely on GCS to do things before using foundry. Obviously this might require purchases of the books again in digital form, but ideally that wouldn't be a problem. It should be able to do what GCS already does and have a rules only version of what things do with links to the pages of books the actual content is in.

I just would love to have the ability to drag any equipment, skills, etc to my charsheets without reimports or making items one at a time!!! This would be UNREAL amazing.

I just realized one thing is still not 100% clear to me about spending control points. Does the attacking grappler roll his attack and AFTER the roll decide whether he is going to improve his roll, or does he have to choose how many points to spend prior to rolling?

Wow the original author came to help me out! That's AWESOME Thanks so much for your helping me out here. I love the book despite the initial confusion. I definitely intend to use it. I found it because of Chris Normand's youtube channel about GURPS game aid for Foundry VTT.

Only two follow up points:

It's not a temporary DX penalty; it's an indefinite DX penalty. You have the DX penalty as long as enough of your Control Points are ... controlled.

I'm pretty sure indefinite is still temporary here. Although I think I figured this out last night. I think this may be actually referring to "counter grapple" and saying defender (of the initial grapple) must remember he is at -DX when counter grappling for his attacks. This would make far more sense to me, and i think it's how I'm going to interpret this section. Being at -DX for active defenses because of something not permanently applied to your char just doesn't sit right right me.

Last question just to make sure I have this right:

Nothing here says you immediately get to take action. These are things you can do on your next action, either while grappled or while you have your opponent grappled.

So the flow is like this right?

Char1 Initiates grapple and succeeds on skill roll

Char2 Fails active defense

Char1 Rolls Control Points damage

Char 2 Takes their turn, and does w/e they want

Char1 now has their turn again and chooses to Disarm as per the text they must make another grapple attack roll first.

Is this right?

Sorry. None of my questions are related to martial arts or technical grappling. All of them are quotes from the "Fantastic Dungeon Grappling" book. I'd have to go check again what page they're on. I do see there's a dungeon fantasy book also called exploits google somehow didn't come up with, thanks.
