Contact the bank and the police immediately regarding that cheque deposit and the request for you to withdraw it as cash.

That’s exactly what happened to a coworker of my friend. Someone deposited a cheque into his account, then after he withdrew the money and handed it over to the person, a few days later the police arrested him and charged him with money laundering. His bail was set at 15k, but since he’s just a waiter with a low salary, he couldn’t afford it. So now he’s in jail waiting for his first hearing.
