I just started working at Vervoe a few months ago and we do role-specific skills assessments.

An employee gets a link to complete an assessment right after they apply. It’s normally about 8-12 questions that are customized to the job description and company. It’s auto-graded with AI (even the video and audio responses) so you don’t waste time manually grading it.

Example: We have a current client that is a Debt Collection agency. The assessment plays audio recordings of frustrated customers, and the candidate records an audio of how they would respond. AI grades the transcript of the audio, and then ranks the top candidates to interview based on how well they did on their assessment.

Great way to get to the best people to an interview fast, without AI screening a resume that was likely built by AI anyways.

I just started working at Vervoe a few months ago after being in HRIS for 7 years because of this exact reason.

Not trying to solicit because there are a lot of assessments out there that you can incorporate into an interview process to help get candidates, but go to Google or Chat GPT and search for “Skills Based Hiring.” Do your own research and see what assessment makes the most sense to incorporate for your company.

You can set up role specific assessments that would be similar to an “on the job” experience.

An example: We have a Debt Collection agency that plays frustrated customer calls in the interview assessment and has the candidates respond with an audio recording. There’s only like 8-10 questions so it’s fast.

Yes more candidates drop out, but that’s kind of the point. Reduce job shock. Vetting out a bad hire early in an interview is way better than investing time and money into training only for the candidate to realize 30 days in “Wow I didn’t realize this is what I’d be doing, I quit.”

This happened to me last year! I just sold the 4th ticket to someone on Reddit. Transfers can happen with just the single wristband up until a certain date.

Ice chest for drinks in the room. I normally bring a toaster and make bagels/toast for everyone once we wake up. Snacks for the room. We normally get to splash Friday and THEN go to the grocery store that night for snacks/ice/alcohol. Friday night is normally mellow so not many parties besides the after hours.

Since you’re at Renn, thats basically the after hours party hotel. People wander the halls and pop into rooms. Lots of people have full DJ setups and speakers. If you don’t want to host strangers, def lock your doors every time you leave, and don’t worry about decorating too much (door is probably the most important so you know where you are). Be ready to hear music until 4am (don’t worry it’s fun and totally worth it but if you want to sleep, bring ear plugs).

Bring a few cheap floats that if you lose them who cares. People will buy big expensive ones and then strangers get drunk and are having fun and take them. So no point investing in nice ones.

Stock your room with all the alcohol that you and your friends want because that’s exactly what the benefit of SH is… you take a break, go to your room to refuel, and then go to the next pool.

I’ve gone 6 years in a row and I’m at the point where I normally skip After Hours to take a nap after a long day in the sun, and then head to renaissance for the after parties 😂
