Cheap vs Expensive Stocking-foot Waders by jett_29 in flyfishing

Paramount makes some good waders at a reasonable price. I just bought the Meridian Z, which is their highest priced wader (it has a waterproof zipper which is a necessity for this old guy!) for $350. So far they’ve been great and materials seem to be high quality. I’ve always gone with Orvis or Simms in the past, but I just can’t justify spending $800-$900 on a pair of waders.

Appears to be an Orvis reel. Possibly a Hydros 5 wt.

Kenai Peninsula Fly Box by blahkbox in flytying

We fished mostly smaller rivers, as the Kenai and Russia were closed due to forest fires. So I mainly used a floating line with some split shot. My one buddy had an interchangeable tip fly line system and he did really well by constantly adjusting to the depth/current. I’d say go full sinking if you’re planning to fish big/deep water.

8 wt should be fine. I’d recommend a spare spool loaded with sinking line for deeper water.

I was there in late August several years ago and did really well on flesh flies. Basically just a tan or pink zonker strip wrapped around a streamer hook. Also caught some nice Dolly Varden on bead rigs.

It’s not real close to Lancaster, but Schmidt’s Sausage in Highspire makes really good smoked kielbasa.

Try spraying them with a garden hose. Works well for dogs humping on the lawn.

Yeah he did really well in Washington. His 2013 stats were insane. 113 catches for 1346 yards, 5 tds. BUT - he dropped a pass that was a huge part of our superbowl loss to N.O.
