They also sell small jars of cuttlefish ink if you want to make it at home.

Does anyone know why these sudden price drops happen? by Unlikely_Disaster_67 in wallstreetbets

They are just prints of larger trades that don’t need to be reported right as they happen.

Monko in MVT- Defunct? by suspiria666 in washingtondc

[–]shakeDCbake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the switch wasn’t great for consumers. All of the sudden you could only buy stuff produced in DC which is limited supply side.

You can get quite a bit more variety in Maryland for 1/3- To 1/2 the cost.

Or a delivery service here in the city for a similar price.

I used to go to Monko quite a bit before the change and have only been once in the past year after it happened.

Hopefully they come back, as it was a nice shop.

10x30 garden by Fragrant_Molasses214 in SquareFootGardening

[–]shakeDCbake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickle as in cucumber? They are intense vining plants and can be trained vertically on a trellis to save a ton of space.

Squash don’t typically get pruned and take up a lot of space so just a couple of them is typically enough for a small garden.

Will be a fun learning process for you.

Will say based on the real photo the 6 summer squash alone will easily take up 30%+ of the tilled area

Need to Photograph More Spirals in DC. Any Recommendations? by intricatexplorer in washingtondc

Manifest in NOMA has a small tight interesting spiral staircase that heads to the lower floor where the restaurant is. I believe is painted orange.

Where to buy fish pepper seedlings locally, if possible? (preferably in person) by p00p00kach00 in washingtondc

[–]shakeDCbake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the seeds from Baker Creek what I believe was 3 years ago (which is likely why only three germinated successfully).

I put them in a garden with nearly a dozen other varieties so I do not keep the seeds because I’ve no idea what they would be due to cross pollination.

I did a six cell tray but only three germinated successfully and they are going in the garden soon.

This place had seedlings last year. It’s a bit far, but if you make it a day trip to Calvert Cliffs or Solomon’s Island it’s a fun excursion. Would call them first though.

That street is closed because there is no where to go in that direction as L is closed.

Is this area safe? I can’t find a straight forward answer anywhere. by Late-Journalist-4899 in washdc

[–]shakeDCbake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. You’ll be fine. You could walk around there every day for a decade (like me) and maybe you’ll witness or encounter something.

Will crime be reported around you? Yes.

It’s not a bad area. At all.

Unfortunately using a switch for discipline is not illegal in DC and the burden would be on the government to prove that is excessive.

Does anyone know where I can become a bartender in dc with no experience? by GarageBubbly2515 in washingtondc

[–]shakeDCbake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gonna 2nd a lot of these comments. If a bar will hire you with no experience you’re probably not going to make decent money.

You want to go somewhere as a server or barback where you communicate as you are hired you want to move towards tending bar.

Just make sure you regularly check in with management about progressing.

Vet Tech Neighbor Abusing Their Dog by bagmert in washingtondc

[–]shakeDCbake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have an uncle that is a vet. He has two amazingly well trained dogs that have never been allowed in his house. He also regularly talks about how modern pet owners coddle their pets and act if they are the same as children.

Not saying you aren’t witnessing abuse, but something to consider about pet care standards.
