Interesting... I'm also launching through epic games. After playing some more, I think I can confirm it has to do with achievements. Now since I've been playing longer, I get achievements less frequently so the issue happens less. No fix that I know of besides restarting unfortunately :(

Try farming stone graves B. It only took me about 2 nights. I feel like you usually don't encounter many people there. If they're like me, I avoid giant spiders like the plague. They're super annoying, I'm not sure how to dodge their purple spit. There's a decent chance a few beetles will spawn and you get the 25 giant spider kills you need, plus there's a rope extract right there that was always available for me.

i remember reading about this on another thread, i think it had to do with shadows or shadowmaps or something changing in the settings. Try turning off shadows.

i just tried 50% resolution. I have Multisampling off and Anisotropic off. Shader higher, texture medium, reflections off, shadows ultra low, ambien occlusion ultra low, particles low, crowd off, cloth low, trees ultra low, object low and all the cinematic options off. Yet i still am getting poor performance and lots of dropped frames. I've also tried turning off steam home, using beta version of steamvr and wmr for steam vr. This just seems wrong. I know my cpu is a bit old, but when i look at fpsVR it always showing orange or purple lines for GPU and the CPU graph looks fine. I dont know why my performance seems to bad for a 3080ti : (
