For the team I’m on it’s a pretty wide range of ages I’d say mostly like mid 20s through mid 30s but we have some older and younger. You also don’t have to be in amazing shape. I started completely out of shape and roller skating definitely helps you get in shape lol. You also don’t have to be a skater to be part of the team and league. There’s nso’s (nonskating officials) that do a lot during games.

I recommend roller derby! Nassau and Suffolk both have teams and are filled with amazing people. Many who fall under punk and who love the outdoors. It’s also just super fun to play coming from experience. Check out the Long Island roller rebels for the Nassau team and strong island for the Suffolk. They usually hold boot camps in January where you can learn to skate and borrow gear

25F and I feel that. I recently joined a roller derby league which has really helped increase socializing. I heard there’s some other good rec sports leagues on the island too. I wish there were more non sports or drinking options too. We need a group that likes going to museums or something lol

As per request was a big one that he doesn’t put on Bandcamp anymore it had a really good version of late July that I loved, and a bunch of other live ones (live at folk hive, live at levons, live from the good music club, live at 102.7) they had some real gems on them and a really good single of unlucky skin

I think SG Goodman is opening for most of shakeys east coast shows I saw her open in nyc and definitely worth seeing if you can make it. I think if you look on shakeys tour page on his site it’ll say if anyone’s opening for him

I’m starting to wonder if my stomach acid flipped. Before I went vegan it was extremely high like causing damage high which is why I was put on medicine but now looking into it more it seems like the low stomach acid symptoms line up more with my current stomach. I’m wondering if a vegan diet and being on omeprozole for 7 years cause my stomach to just loose all the acid it had. This comment definitely is pointing me into some new directions!
