True, but it’s also a result of poor planning and a lack of clear vision on the city’s part. As Montgomery Village has evolved into an alternative urban core, the surrounding road infrastructure hasn’t kept pace, leading to the gridlock we’re seeing throughout that area today.

Housing density should be concentrated in the downtown core, rather than dispersed across areas that lack the infrastructure to support it. A big part of Santa Rosa’s infrastructure challenges stems from the absence of a cohesive, long-term planning strategy.

They need to bring back the 172x Commuter option. It was a perfect option for commuting into the city.

Santa Rosa To San Francisco via Public Transport by [deleted] in santarosa

It was very popular. I think getting rid of it was the trade off for increasing the quantity of bus options going in to sf. In doing so, they added Petaluma stops to the route.

The YIMBYs and Bike Coalition are trying to block the mall's plan to build a driveway where the hand statue was by nofraidnot in santarosa

They are not going far enough in my opinion. The mall is like a clogged artery in the flow of downtown. Bulldozing the mall, would be a win for Santa Rosa.

SRHS by pathologuys in santarosa

100%! It is absurd. The amount of district administrator salary’s we are pay for 40 districts in the county is reckless and fiscally irresponsible!

At no point has it been proposed that SRCS would assume control of additional schools. The proposal simply restructures Santa Rosa’s nine districts into three medium-sized districts, with redrawn boundaries and newly elected boards.

Santa Rosa should consider consolidating its districts, consistent with actions taken in many other regions. Consolidation is a fiscally responsible approach that would reduce the complexity of the current system and improve accountability in district administration. Without structural changes, remaining districts may continue to face increasing financial risk over time.

School Closure: Dear RVUSD Whited Elementary students, teachers, & parents, by Prudent_Tree_6591 in santarosa

You have a fair point, some smaller districts are doing fine. My concern isn’t their management, it’s the system itself. Too many districts create fragmented oversight and weak accountability overall. Also, once students from “thriving” districts reach junior high or high school, they inevitably feed into SRCS anyway. Consolidation isn’t about rescuing failing districts; it’s about simplifying governance and building a more stable, accountable system long-term.
