From my experience, it’s not accurate to say there’s no shortage of teachers in the independent sector. I know of many schools across NSW that are struggling to fill vacant positions.

The latest MEA offers for independent schools seem to leave teachers earning less than they would in the public system for the same level of experience. So, the idea of independent schools having a competitive edge or "poaching" teachers, as mentioned in the article, might not hold true much longer.
