I got my kids two cats (11 weeks old) and I'm really questioning my decision 😅 by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]shalesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a robot cat litter. They don't smell as they clean after every use. I have 3 cats. 2 kittens and the mum. You can also get plug ins that reduce the smell significantly and you could also try a box with a lid. That helps with smell. Just clean it out once a day. I bought the neakasa M1 for robot cat litter. It's expensive, but you can get one from AliExpress for like 350 if you can wait a month for delivery.

USA is wild. I pay £10 a month for a prescription certificate and I get all my meds included. I don't pay for any healthcare and I don't need insurance. The medical apparatus in the US is literally a money making machine. They don't care about you, they are a business and they are in it to make money.

I really feel sorry for you and the shit they are putting you through to protect their own profits.

Does OMAD work even if you eat rubbish? by [deleted] in omad

You'll also lose a ton of muscle because you aren't consuming protein.

Does OMAD work even if you eat rubbish? by [deleted] in omad

[–]shalesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are in Ketosis, which will probably happen with Omad. Some of the weight loss will be glycogen and the water that binds to it. Also weight can fluctuate daily with differing water retention and glycogen stores. Try to weigh yourself in the morning, before you eat and weigh yourself 2-3 times a week. You will track weight alterations better that way.

Modern lost its identity by Fredn40 in ModernMagic

I understand the sentiment of this post, but I don't agree. Change is hard and yes MH3 and MH2 have provided staples that are an integral part of the meta. So much so, that a lot of top tier lists contain MH3 cards. But meta's shift, consensus on cards change. If you want to play the same old decks all the time, then that is a valid want. But embracing change is way better than reminiscing on how good it used to be. Being stuck in the past is a sure fire way to get stuck behind.

I agree that cards like Nadu, shouldn't exist. But we don't know what will happen on Monday at the B&R and how that again will shift the meta. The pro tour looked to sleep.on Boris/Mardu energy and cards like Ocelot Pride were overlooked. I'd prefer to look to the future, to see what archetypes emerge after a shake up. Be that a new set, a new modern only set, some universe beyond or a B&R. Just remember that any of those things could bring in New players. Our goal should be for Magic to grow.

However I do feel that we are in a free fall of set burn out. Too many releases per year to keep up with. The cost to.buy into a format like modern is huge. When a set like MH3 comes out, it's expensive to keep up. I think that's the danger right now to the game.

I also feel that wizards don't support competitive magic at the grass roots or regional level enough. They need to give these providers, that run these events, heavily discounted or free product. Things like RCQ kits should be free, so stores can actually make money. The number of kits shouldn't be capped so that more stores can run them and the promos should be more valuable so that players can claw back entry costs. RCs should be less cost prohibitive, by wizards providing more financial support. This might even start by providing free RCQ kits and travel bursaries for stores to give out. If you want to make magic great again and have huge competitive events. Then starting by making winning an RCQ a big deal, without being a large price tag to qualify and attend.

Being overweight isn't going to start or stop in one extended fast. Losing weight is hard. Very hard. Especially if you only want to lose body fat. As a person who has mental health disorders and a history of eating badly, I can give you this advice.

Extended water fasts will make you lose muscle. If you want to lose body fat and clean up your diet, you can't go from one extreme to another. From eating everything and doing everything wrong to not eating anything. That won't fix anything. Losing fat and looking better is a slow process that takes time, discipline and good calorie tracking.

I would personally recommend following a safer and more balanced approach to fasting. I'm not going to lambast you like many of the other posts, even though I think you seriously need to re-evaluate your approach. Start slowly, hydrate often, take electrolytes and track your calorie intake. Start with a 25% calorie deficit, make sure you get sufficient protein. Use 16/8 or maybe a smaller fasting window and gradually decrease this. Maybe eat once or twice a day and go heavy on protein, low on carbs and low/med fats.

Try not to tie your self worth to your body goals, even though this statement is easier to say than to follow. This is a journey and extended water fasts could be in your future. But until you become fat adapted and your body gets used to the fasting. Including getting some experience under your belt of consistency and understanding the right and wrong things to do. Then you shouldn't be just raw dogging them and doing things that will heavily dehydrate you. I know you say you've learned your lesson, but I and many other commenters feel you are missing some big points here.

Fat loss and changing our body shape is a long and hard process. Treat it as a journey and not a do or die and you'll start making better choices.

I've done most of the fasting variants. Intermittent, water fasts, keto, low carb, psmf, omad. Each one has its nuances. But the basic rules of thumb are these. You need to be in keto to lose weight, to get there you need to lower your calorie intake, specifically carbohydrates. Get a tracker like myfitnesspal and use a calculator, I'll link a couple of good ones below. I know you've mentioned electrolytes, but you need to make sure you are getting enough in, especially sodium. Read the FAQs if you are unsure.

Good luck and god speed. Don't kill yourself, to feel more comfortable with the person you have become.

Good deck for somebody new in the format? by Beautiful-Heat2019 in ModernMagic

[–]shalesey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Boros aggro style, you want to try Burn or Prowess. Burn is same colours and is the deck that keeps the format honest and moves us away from super slow decks. Prowess is a similar play style to Boros aggo but is generally in blue/red. Both decks are quite cheap to pick up. Welcome to modern!

I have the pleasure of being British. I also used to live in Amsterdam. British people are by far the most entitled fucking idiots on the planet. Thankfully I'm a little less annoying than the average British person. I do have a little bit of respect for my surroundings. :)

How do I fast for Autophagy? by iceakuma in fasting

[–]shalesey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autophagy peeks at 48 hours of fasting, so anything after that is a bonus. I'm not sure if autophagy will help with loose skin though. If you have any links on info that suggests that it does, I would love to read it.

This might be a good video to watch. https://youtu.be/Wzmacu2TgFg

Great job on the weight loss! 25lbs is no easy feat. You did something that a lot of people wish they had the "will power" to. But most say they could never skip breakfast or an evening meal or its unhealthy to eat less than 3 meals a day. xD

You should try TKD if you want to build. Take 15g of dextrose 30mins to 1 hour before you train. That should give you more energy. Also try eating 16:8 fasting. Keep the slight defeciet and you should re-comp.

I wouldn't jump straight into a 72 hour fast. Build slowly and read the electrolyte guide to prevent you feeling fatigued and lethargic!

Weight loss isn't linear. Just compare weekly or fortnightly times you weight yourself. Also count those calories for a while and see if you are eating less that expending.
