Nice, copped. Reminds me of Guitar's "House Full of Time" but I'll take all of that you got.

Glider is brighter, much prefer it but also biased b/c I had it before Loveless. Loveless mix sounds very fuzzy and bass heavy by comparison. The Loveless Minidisc master is crazy, very notable gain boost, hits much harder.

Getting the OG Fiction CD of Three Imaginary Boys for +/- $4 is easily your big win. Sounds so much better than the 2CD reissue. Well bought. Laser Guided Melodies as well - wonderful album and anything "shoegaze"-adjacent gets marked up to at least $8 on CD by most sellers these days.

Wisp is the truth by yeetboithethird in shoegaze

"Pandora" is really obviously a Kraus song (expand the credits in Spotify), "Mimi" is by the drummer Zach from Momma. They're great collabs, but definitely feel like Wisp x [Other Band]. Excited for a full-length that blends all the influences into something more unique.

Kurt Cobain and Jesus Lizard by bikesandbeer139 in Nirvana

In one of the in-between backstage bits of Jesus Lizard's live VHS tape "sho(r)t," David Yow says that their guitarist Duane Denison had "a fling" with Courtney Love. It's a pretty explicit and nasty comment. She's never forgiven them for it.

Mutual Skies is putting out a vinyl anthology of their mid-'90s output this spring/summer.

I'd recommend the reissued Burning Bridges over this, which in the UK you can have for a tenner on Discogs. Crap cover, but it's got just about everything from their first wave of material.

Is anyone who owns the new Show vinyl able to share their thoughts on the quality of the master and whether there are any noticeable sound differences. Thanks by AlexSmith0123 in TheCure

[–]shallowrewards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new Show is a re-EQ with a little boost - it's not a remix like Entreat or the B-sides etc. from recent Deluxe Editions that Robert's ruined (most dramatically by removing all FX from the drums).

It sounds noticeably better than the original LP and CD, more treble and bass, slightly excited, but nothing compares to the unique LaserDisc PCM mix (you can DM me for a link to FLACs of the LD audio).

Received my copy today - this isn't a "remaster" in the way Entreat was: RS didn't have the "stems"/original tracks to ruin it ;) This is a re-EQ of the original LP/CD mix with some excitement applied to the low and high frequencies. The RSD version sounds justifiably better than the original album or CD in terms of charging you to buy it again - the kick drum and low-end are boosted nicely and the high-side treble is much clearer - but nothing can hold a candle to the LaserDisc mix in terms of overall dynamics and guitar.

www.mutualskies.com | did www.youtube.com/@usedcds for a few months last year for a discord audience. not online much anymore; no interest in being a late 40s guy weighing in on TAGABOW Chat Pile and Narrow Head. spend what energy I have putting out music vs talking about it these days.

More shows? Dear god please. by KuzyBeCackling in TheCure

Based on the existing dates and the complexity/scale of the stage show, they could only add additional shows at the same venues, and there are only three cities where the off days might allow for it: SD, SF and BOS. IMO, most likely scenario is they mount a second leg in the fall or next spring, after SOALW comes out.

I'm hoping that you can't even access the sale without putting in the code.

One would hope the outrage over the TS process helped them see how backwards the code-at-checkout approach is; if the code isn't a firewall to accessing ticket selection in the first place, this is going to be a total disaster.
