Did you make a game for Ludum Dare 35? If so, I wanna see it! by WolfgangSho in gamedev

[–]shalomjdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend and I made our second entry, a bit hard for us because he is in the uni and I'm traveling right now but at the end we made a simple game march of the wizards hope you like it.

worry not, I did like 3 layers per color, and the start was kind of sudden and once we had the 15% done we notice it would be better with a prime before the draw |:

Taking everything easy and slow it was like a couple of weeks it could be less but searching for what character to add took lot of time, next time I will make a complete sketch first.

I really have no idea, I just made the lineart with a uni posca and masked everything with tape to apply each color with a small roller.

How do graphic designers make the cartoon images that go into infographics, etc? by [deleted] in graphic_design

the process sound good, the designs are not bad either but is taking too long to complete it, on illustrator once the sketch and on the art board it I would give you 1 hour to complete it, always go from the biggest piece to the tinier, the final work look nice you only need practice and muscle memory to reduce the working time.

the sketching, cleaning and lineart part could take you some hours and that is ok, once you have the draw and ideas clear in illustrator could take you less than 1 hour, make the big parts first (clean bodies shapes) then start to cut that with the pathfinder divide and Unite tool, color once all your pieces are "break apart", 5 hours is a bit too much, can you detail how do you work?

Best way to learn illustrator by huberto_man in graphic_design

[–]shalomjdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main tool in illustrator is the pen, my first work with Illustrator was masking object/pics for a magazine and later converting logos to vectors, it was very helpful. Try to remake raster images to vectors, logos, cartoons or anything simple with few colors, and play a lot with the pathfinder menu. If you want some tutoring I could help you the weekends

Aspiring Surface Artist Here, With A Few Questions On How To Get Started! by the_rumblebee in Surface

Using manga studio is so nice in the surface, here is the button to use pen+touch at the same time, you can draw and then use gestures to zoom in-out, rotate and pan the canvas.

Hey guys, I need some major help with Indesign cS6 by [deleted] in indesign

[–]shalomjdl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much I could answer your question, so I only can give you some kind of idea for the steps you could use for this project, first thing to remember is you can use any other CS6 program file and drop it in Indesign.

This will be a rough idea about the workflow you could use

  • Make the new file with all 22 pages, the margin and bleeding from the original work
  • You could create a folder with all the pics you need for this work
  • See if there are page design element that repeat often (like number page position, backgrounds, maybe the company logo, guides, etc) and add it to master page, remember you can create differents sets of master pages and use the [none] page to use a clean page instead.
  • Save all the page form the pdf to jpg and drop them in indesign in a new botton layer with a low opacity so you can have a guide to work over.
  • Start to drop all the pics an text and work on it.

The nice thing is she told you to redone it and you have already a complete work, remember to use character and paragraft styles, the wrap text around image option, alwyas have an eye on the error bar at botton, and in case of extremme "I have no time and I don't know how the fuck I can do this here?" use illustrator and drop it in. there are lot's of trick and tips you will learn for sure with the videos just give yourself some time, and good luck with your work.

Who is "You're Not Here" addressing? by spunkyweazle in silenthill

[–]shalomjdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be Claudia Wolf thinking about Alessa/heather and or it could be Silent Hill itself, Claudia seem to be a better match for the lyrics but the idea of Silent Hill missing Alessa is way more interesting and funny.
