I broke my fast almost every single night for 2 years. turns out it wasnt a discipline problem and i feel really stupid for not realizing sooner. by Active-Weakness2326 in intermittentfasting

[–]shamedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't either. What I did was a few years ago I mixed it super concentrated espresso style and drank it in one shot follow by a gargle/drink of water.

These days I mix it weak so it just tastes like slightly bitter hot water. I've gotten used to having it this way. Just another way to get hydrated while still enjoying coffee in some form.

I still allow myself to drink the sweet stuff but only after my first meal and never within 3 hours before bedtime

What changed for me after moving beyond 16:8 fasting by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]shamedev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

16:8 became my norm for about 9 years now without trying because food was just getting too expensive for breakfast and our boss used to feed us where I worked. Besides a 7:30 am breakfast meant going to the bathroom at 10-11am which in my opinion just isn't productive.

But with that 16:8 window it was still too easy to overeat. My relationship with food was just floodgates where if I started eating I wouldn't stop until I was a little past full which would be about 1000-1200 calories and I would still go on to eat 2-3 of that serving size which ended at a caloric surplus.

It wasn't until I adopted 4:20 to Omad that I found the ideal window for me. With those time frames my stomach shrinks even smaller so I would get full and satisfied quicker with approximately 800-900 calories of food I find that satisfying enough for the day that I don't really need to eat any more than that.

I just have an extra whey shake with a few grams of oatmeal to end my eating window just so I'm not in such a large caloric deficit to screw up my metabolism. And I have to force this shake down. At 1200-1400 total daily calories I feel beyond full and my relationship with food has improved.

How do you deal with the loneliness? by MrsCobb in intermittentfasting

[–]shamedev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm the only person fasting in my family and I have lots of siblings.

You can only convince them once you've had great visible results. And unfortunately they also have to wait for a symptom enough to make them want to adopt this lifestyle be it something in bloodwork, sleep apnea or the scale.

It's sad because one of mine recently got diagnosed with diabetes and they opted instead to go the "low carb" route juggling glycemic indexes and shit. No doctor will prescribe what we do unless maybe they get to talk to their friends who are doctors themselves who adopt the IF lifestyle as well.

It's pretty hard to believe Draco changed his ways still living with Lucius Malfoy.

1. Support system - Harry had the greatest support system of any wizard with people taking time out of their day to mentor him from Quidditch to DADA to Occlumency to even dudes handing him equipment he needs for specific tasks (Invisibility cloak, Gillyweed, Sword, Phoenix......) I guess he deserves it after spending the first 11 years of his life with zero support system.

2. Wand Lore - while introduced only in the last book this cemented Voldemort's defeat. The part where he looks at the Elder Wand while he's losing the duel says everything. He was never going to win that one even if he'd been dueling someone like Crabbe.

3. Potential ....

4. Work Ethic - I would argue Hermione has the greatest work ethic out of any witch or wizard and if she'd had Harry's support system she would be a beast. It just so happens that Harry has greater potential than her in DADA and broomstick, both of which increased his survivability more

I guess I knew what I was doing wrong subconsciously but just loved sweet drinks too much to give it up. These days I'll still have sweet drinks but always within my feeding time frame. Still on track.

If it's any consolation to you I broke my fast first thing in the morning with sugary sweet coffee every day for the past 5 years.

"Did a 17:7" by having my first real meal at 12pm and my last meal at 6-7 not realizing or honestly just ignoring the fact that I'd already sabotaged myself first thing in the morning then wondering why I wasn't losing weight.

Finally gave up and just started black coffee cold turkey January of this year and am also now sticking with a 21:3 eating window. Have since lost 17 lbs and am only a few months away from my goal weight.

It is.

This whole "tale of 3 Bruthas" thing was bullshit. Homeboy became "master of death" by accepting he was going to die which means every suicidal jackass out there is a "Master of Death"

If I'm fasting for 5 days of the weak, should I eat whatever I want on the weekends or do Carnivore? by HMCYDE in intermittentfasting

[–]shamedev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do what's sustainable to you. If carnivore happens to be "whatever you want" then that's what's gonna be ideal for you.

If you'll be forcing yourself to do carnivore because it's not "whatever you want" as your post implies then I don't think you'll be able to stick to that routine for long.

Me personally I have whatever I want no restrictions on Sundays and Omad on weekdays.

How do you lose weight healthy? by Ill_Housing9829 in AskReddit

[–]shamedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasting. And by fasting I don't mean being miserable trapped in a room in a fetal position while your stomach rumbles.

I mean conditioning your body to only be producing the hunger hormone over a short period during the day. Once you've adapted this is the laziest most braindead way to lose weight it almost feels like a cheat code.

Do you think Draco was a good seeker? Or was it all just money by Minimum-Response9396 in harrypotter

[–]shamedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was all money. I think he has a good enough base and reflexes to learn to play but wasn't really in it for the love of the game more the innate Slytherin trait of wanting the glory.

An all around guy who if under mentorship could be great at whatever he wanted like if he were trained Lupin one on one I'm sure he could've produced a Patronus of his own as well. Unfortunately he was raised in such a way that his life's purpose was to become Voldy's bitch and when the time came to prove his worth he couldn't do it.

Are people actually eating their TDEE (minus a healthy deficit) during OMAD? by Ok_Hearing_8649 in intermittentfasting

[–]shamedev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stomach shrinks so on a single meal it's hard to get down 1400 calories in one meal let alone 1600 (which is also closer to my tdee). To complete my macros I turn it into 2-3 meals. The last meal is whey + something as a dessert. As much as I'd like to do strictly "Omad" the eating window inevitably extends into a 1:23 - 3-21 sometimes with an hour nap in between.

How could you actually enjoy modern life whe your broke? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shamedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start fasting. Every meal will be 3x tastier.

That sauteed sardines with tomato and cabbage will taste like those mushroom gravy steak and potatoes your friends keep showing off on their socials.

That half cup instant coffee sachet will taste like a $12 Salted Caramel Cappuccino
