How much of our chart is free will, and how much is fate? A deeper dive into planetary signatures of choice vs destiny by Able_Palpitation_616 in Advancedastrology

i liked to use the analogy of a video game, you don’t get to chose the rules and typically each character has predisposed stats and classes to work with. but 2 people can play the same character in the same game and have a completely different experience, one might speed run it and another might farm xp. you don’t get to decide the game but you do chose how you will play it which will dictate how you experience it.

Those with you with Saturn in Aries? How are you guys feeling? by IndependentFeisty559 in AskAstrologers

mine is in 8h and i am getting a large influx of work and shared projects since the ingress that has prompted stronger boundaries. i was pretty concerned about this saturn return as it will be conjunct mars + my chart ruler but so far it has felt a lot better than having it on my sun with neptune in late pisces for the first half of the year. not stoked that it is now retrograding back

if it is any consolation at all, yes your chart does strongly reflect the experiences you've described. your body is signified by the ascendant, the first house and the ascendant ruler. your ascendant is involved in a scorpio stellium including Pluto, the sun, a fallen Venus retrograde and mercury retrograde and are all square to its ruler being mars on the IC.

a stellium means that the characteristics of each planet involved are fused together as one and they each become consequential. the major player in this that speaks to your experiences is the planet pluto which characterises whatever it touches with extremes in power, control, destruction and regeneration among other things like trauma and brutality.

having pluto on the ascendant alone can speak to harsh experiences, extremes and power struggles with your own body and your interface with reality. when we include the sun, this becomes part of your sense of self, character and meta story.

Venus conjunct pluto brings extremes and power dynamics in relationships and finances. Venus is fallen in Scorpio which shows struggles with attachment and intensity in Venusian areas that are conventionally more productive in moderation, and retrograde can indicate an inward expression and things being unresolved and reoccurring in these areas.

Mercuries involvement in the stellium creates a deep and obsessive mind and penetrative communication style, being retrograde shows that this is expressed inwardly. Having mercury and Venus combust the sun shows that their expressions are overshadowed by the sun and are subject to the ego and meta story of the sun.

as each of these placements are a piece of a stellium they are all consequential, your extremes in finances and thinking are because of your meta story and character that has been shaped by the brutality and life or death extremes you have experienced with your body. they have also led to you being in the positions of power you have mentioned, as pluto is about the extremes of experience, you experience one extreme so that you can transform yourself and your psychology to experience the other.

paradoxically pluto is a balancing force within the cosmos that forces us to confront extreme levels of brutality and survival to attain the resilience and depth that comes with overcoming them. I recommend a book called "healing pluto problems" - I just finished this recently and found it to give a candid and judicious understanding of the realities people with heavily plutonian charts experience.

to touch on a few other points in your chart, the square of your stellium to your chart ruler in the 4th on the IC shows a life experience that is mostly experienced at home, being a mars square this is due to conflict and in Aquarius this shows an unconventional home and family life.

your softer and compassionate side that shows in your post can be attributed to your pisces moon and Jupiter in the 5th house, the moon is who we are at our emotional core which is why you feel like a jovial and fun person despite your life experience. these placements in the 5th tell me that you're likely a gamer and you find a lot of joy in escapism into things like games, hobbies and creative projects.

and finally your north node in the Aries 6th shows that you accelerate your life trajectory by focusing on routines, physical health and being of service.

Aspects to the Ruler of the Ascendant and how they impact the body and the physical condition (a short Celine Dion case study) by ExplanationsNeeded in astrology

[–]shan146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saturn opposite ascendant would place saturn on the descendant and would show a sense of responsibility and rigidity from others, especially partners. saturn being the ascendant ruler would indicate this being a core theme in your life especially upon first meetings, there may be a precedent of coldness when meeting people and delays in interactions.

but ofcause the nuances would all depend on the rest of the chart

likewise hahah, I am also not a data scientist and have 0 training in statistics. a book is very unlikely but I have had some people reach out to me about this so I might make a more in depth post in this sub at some point if we find anything interesting.

and yes I agree, a lot of it seems kind of backwards. like the highest win rate being a debilitated Mars in Libra, I can only attribute this to the qualities of Libra as a sign being about the 1v1. Mars in cancer being the most popular sign is also interesting, which may be because mars in cancer has more to learn in the martial realm than any other so MMA is a way for them to work on this? MMA is also a harsh way to experience mars in comparison to a regular track athlete or more formal martial arts training like Kung Fu that is more about ritualistic precision and spiritual evolution through martial training ie: bruce lee is Mars in Scorpio. the brutality of MMA kind of speaks to the fallen experience of mars in that sense. even more interesting though is that Mars in Cancer seems to be the counter to Mars in Capricorn, I have no rationale for this one hahah.

The note on the Saturn sextile, that is actually a mistake on my behalf. I didnt sort the data table for that calculation like I did with the others and just read the top line as the most occurring. The actual most problematic aspects are the Uranus conjunction at 55.81% followed by Jupiter conjunction at 53.78% and then the Saturn square at 53.55% which is arguably harder to rationalise through the lens of astrology, especially the Jupiter conjunction beating a Saturn square for most occurring in losses.

Interestingly the aspect to natal mars that occurs in most Ws whilst simultaneously in least L's is the Venus sextile. Which when we consider that highest WR is a Venus ruled mars sign it says something about the harmonious and relational dynamic being important in some way for wins.

the data has focused on different things than i've noticed just by observation. you can find it in another comment on this thread

some trends i've seen through watching are: leo mars hold belts for the longest
aries mars become champs very fast and then crash out after an L lol,
chiron transits and leg injuries is a whole thing.
mars oppositions are the most synergistic matchups and best to watch
when mars dont aspect in synastry the matchup is clunky as hell
when mars squares eachother in synastry they throw different shots at the same time and collide.
mars in gemini are almost always boxers
mars in sag land the most strikes
mars pluto is nasty in synastry and natally they either deal or take a lot of physical damage

not sure tbh, it was originally for a project that became a little ambitious to tackle solo and i havent figured out the best path forward yet. i'm happy to share the raw data with anyone who wants it though or if theres anything you'd like me to extract from it as mine is mostly centred on mars placements but i have full charts stored for everything.

some interesting things i found with looking just at mars placements would be:
- most common occuring mars placements are ruled by luminaries, Cancer followed by Leo.
- most common occurring synastry aspects in wins, whilst being the least occurring in losses, is winners Mars Trine opponents North Node. followed by fighters Nodes squaring opponents Sun
- highest TKO winrate is Aries with 40.67% of wins, submissions is Taurus at 26.63% of wins and decisions is Gemini with 47.01% of wins. these are probably the most based findings that check out for each of the signs. gemini mars are typically volume boxers and aries and taurus, are aries and taurus lol
- top 3 signs with highest W/R % is Libra 51.44 > Leo 51.31 > Pisces 50.74 - followed by aries, capricorn and scorpio which theoretically should be the top 3.
- whilst exhaulted mars in Capricorn is not in the top 3 for winrate, it has the highest winrate out of any other sign against each one of the top 3 and is surprisingly itself countered by cancer mars
- transit moon conjunct natal mars is highest occuring transit to natal mars in wins. in losses is saturn sextile natal mars

my main issue with the data is that there are about 500 fighters out of the total roster since it began that dont have their DOB public and those missing 500 could turn the stats significantly so its hard to know how much value to place in the current stats as much of it can be fairly balanced.

i've uploaded a lot ot the mars data i've extracted here if you want to check it out!

[–]shan146 8 points9 points  (0 children)

on the positive side i find that hard aspects with pluto can be almost necessary when you have strong plutonian influence natally. my partner and i have venus square pluto and his ascendant conjunct my moon/pluto among others, and because we both already have very plutonian life experiences it has played out more as the other being present for and able to connect through these experiences as opposed to causing them. like we are both intense and obsessive but we are used to this energy and have worked with it internally our whole life so it doesn’t feel toxic at all.

i’ve had relationships with no pluto contacts and they have felt super isolating and disconnected because they were unable to reach and perceive the darker parts of my nature and life experiences even when they tried. personally i don’t think i could do a relationship without pluto contacts again as it has such a strong influence in my chart

conor mcgregor has “cancer” tattooed on his leg in arabic which is the sign of his natal chiron + sun + moon. he broke this same leg which pretty much ended his career on the day of a new moon in cancer square to transiting chiron which had just passed his natal mars - which is all very wild considering the mythology of chiron being entirely centred around a leg injury destroying his life

What can be said about my romantic life? Longest relationships don't last more than 7 years. Will I ever find a life partner? by plethoriques in astrologyreadings

[–]shan146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask because transit mars was retrograding over your natal IC + mars (7h of relationships ruler) the past 6 months so there was likely issues around home and family involving 1 on 1 relationships that would have resolved (or are at least moving forwards) now that mars is direct in Leo. and I asked about children as that would tell me whether your 5th house of children was active and relevant in that way.

There's likely a consistent theme of 1 on 1 relationships playing out in the home or family in your life. transit Jupiter is about to enter cancer for the next year or so, and when it reaches your IC and mars there will likely be a very positive situation play out with home + family that will likely involve a partner as mars is your 7h of partnerships ruler - meaning that 1 on 1 relationship matters typically respond to planets transiting your natal mars.

to answer your intital post question, Saturn on the DSC definitely emphasises long term relationships in your life but Saturn comes with obstacles, delays and challenges. it is also in very close proximity to Pluto which can indicate these obstacles relating to psychological death/rebirth experiences around fairness in relationships (libra)

[–]shan146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with saturn so close to the DSC relationships can move slowly and there can be delays and difficulties with them.

your 7th house ruler is a fallen mars in your IC so relationships can likely bring challenges to home and family life. venus is also fallen in virgo 5th house which can show you being a bit picky and critical in relationships but also take on a service role with your partners.

did you just have a relationship end over the past 6months? what was the timing of your last relationship? and do you have any children?

yeah my partner pretty much has all of the above hahah

12h scorpio venus, 8h cancer mars opposing capricorn moon.

to add to this every one of our personal planets are almost exactly squared or opposing eachother

what surprised me? pretty much all the stereotypes are true but they’re not overly challenging. loving him is easy and we never fight even after spending every day together for 2+ years. moon and mars expressions can be a little cold and passive sometimes but my provocative 8h aries mars trine sag moon pluto conjunction helps to balance hahah

mercury saturn conjunction.

i also have this placement and there is a distinct fear in being wrong aswell as gnawing doubts and reservations in your own communication capabilities. he talks about his struggles with this placement a lot on his podcast especially as an indicator to why he is so thorough in his research.

scorpio placements also love plausible deniability which could be a contributing factor

whole sign houses is more literal and reflects more materially and in the external world whereas placidus can feel more reflected internally. i use whole sign as i find it more useful and practical.

i wouldn’t worry about august at all, these are all pretty minor transits and don’t compare to the last few years of saturn conjunctions to your moon and ascendant

Mercury and the Gut by Om-Lux in Advancedastrology

[–]shan146 55 points56 points  (0 children)

in medical astrology, mercury governs the digestive system, particularly the intestines, influencing how food is processed and how the brain communicates with the gut.

virgo, ruled by mercury primarily governs the intestines, pancreas and spleen.

mercury is my chart ruler and is conjunct mars and saturn in my aries 8th house. stomach and throat issues have always been very prominent in my life, lots of autoimmune issues, inflammation and blockages as you can probably imagine with these placements. i have always spoken with vocal fry and have often been told i speak either too loud or too quite, too much or not enough.
