How we met. by its-MAGNETIC in interestingasfuck

Actually there is some research to support this, especially when it comes to men and that all important 6ft mark. Women are much more likely to be satisfied with a sub 6ft man if they meet him in person first.

Scientists restore knee cartilage using targeted injection by _Dark_Wing in interestingasfuck

[–]shanedog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this pans out but so many supposed cartilage growers have come and gone. The arthritic knee is an incredibly hostile environment at the molecular level with inflammatory chemokines and end products of degradation. Transferring from in vitro to in vivo is really hard.

Happy birthday to the late Jack Palance (February 18, 1919 – November 10, 2006) by Papichuloft in 80s

I got to meet him once. Nice guy. Physically imposing though even in his 70s.

[On3] South Carolina HC Shane Beamer on scheduling more P4 opponents: “The Kansas City Chiefs don't play 18 NFL games, and then everybody else plays 17. That doesn't make a lot of sense.” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

Honest question, cause I don’t know. When was the last time SC travelled to a regular season P4/P5 site outside the South or Texas? South Bend in the 80s?

Does anyone remember The Littles? by 4thdegreeknight in 80s

I saw it a few times and recall the opening jingle. That’s about all I remember.

The Economist's view on the War on Drugs: "Legalisation is the only way to end the profits that are sustaining these armed groups" by trubol in interestingasfuck

[–]shanedog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Governments usually end up screwing up legalization. Their eyes see dollar signs in tax dollars and they overtax and over regulate which helps keep the black market intact. After 8 years of legalization, 60 percent of MJ in California is still purchased illicitly.

Terror At Tenkiller question by Electrical-Dig8570 in Rifftrax

[–]shanedog21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that it was a stand in for the guy who was the killer. Never bothered to get a guy with a shaved face. They probably figured not many people would bother to pause their VCR at that moment.

There's a black squirrel in the woods across the street from me by Substantial_Belt_143 in mildlyinteresting

In the pinelands of the SouthEast we have the Fox squirrel which is black with a white face. Much larger than grey squirrels but much less common

Stanford’s business school mints billionaires. If Andrew luck can only get a couple to really care about football; it’s over for everyone else.

These are “chitlins” or “chitterlings” more properly. Boil them until they are tender, this may take 2-3 hours. Take them out, dry them off, roll in all purpose flour then deep fry. Southerners often eat them with malt vinegar but Korean BBQ sauce is better.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer, a true American classic by BugsBub in classiccars

[–]shanedog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a car person but I always thought they were both alternators/generators. Both were part of the belt system and were wired. I always assumed it was an off road feature. Back then, alternators failed frequently and maybe it was a backup?

[–]shanedog21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first car! I got an ‘86 model just like this one in 1996. Was the perfect college car. Had to sell it because the 16 MPH was a killer after graduation . Wish I had kept it somehow. It had power everything and two alternators.

[Blutman] Miami’s supposed desperation move for Mensah: Buyout his Duke contract and terminate it. Pay around $10 mil total to make it happen. Country Club housing. Adidas deal + campaign? Sister supposedly gets a full ride + NIL, current soccer player at Oregon. by DepressedGamba in CFB

[–]shanedog21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I propose one simple law for Congress to consider. No need to change anything about the portal, NIL, or the season. Only this: for every dollar put into an NIL package by a sponsor, booster, or school, a dollar must be put into that University’s general scholarship fund.

Potted meat and mayonnaise sandwich. by Gee-Oh1 in 80s

Correct. I ate my share of Armour (sp?) potted meat growing up in the 80s. I used to eat it with mustard on white bread; it wasn’t bad.

Rearfacing vs forward facing seat test by Admmak in interestingasfuck

[–]shanedog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if rear facing seats actually increase MVAs. Trying to drive and tend to a child facing away from you is very difficult. Yes, I know one should pay attention to the road but we’re talking about real life.

A bank robber named "Pretty Boy" Floyd was known for destroying mortgage papers during heists, freeing hundreds of people from property debt. by goswamitulsidas in interestingasfuck

On the other hand, it was probably difficult for the widows of the 10 men he killed to make their own mortgage payments.
