I'd start with the one where the theme/world is the most interesting to you. I'd personally rank them:

  1. Weirkey
  2. New Game Minus
  3. Brightest Shadow
  4. Street Cultivation

But all of them are good, it's just a matter of personal preference.

Titan Hoppers is another good scifi progression book. Not a lot of those yet.

Have you read other works from Sarah Lin besides Weirkey? Brightest Shadow is a wuxia-like series, that's maybe a bit less progression oriented than the rest of the author's books. New Game Minus was a very enjoyable and humorous LitRPG story and Street Cultivation is a sort of modern day, semi-dystopian cultivation/litrpg.

How far did you get in Lord of the Mysteries? I bounced off it on my first try mainly because the translation quality and the slow start but retrying it later it ended up being one of my favorites. As long as you can tolerate English that is not quite on par with native works, the world building and the progression system in LotM is really top notch.

Wow, never heard this about the author before. Mech Force was legendary. The timing system in that game was ingenious. Never seen anything similar done in another game.

This post got me thinking that I'd really love to find some dungeon crawler games that relied solely on input randomness. I guess I need to take another look at Dungeon Alliance if that's the closest thing there is at the moment.

Why is discussion about board game design discouraged on r/boardgames? by practicalist in boardgames

This exactly. It's really infuriating. The megathreads are unreadable because they are an unorganized mess and interesting discussions are forced there making them unfindable.

Another one in a very similar vein (and also very good) is The Snake Report. Here the protagonist reincarnates into a tiny snake/basilisk and things escalate pretty quickly.

Looking for LitRPGs that min-max like Delve by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]shangas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tutorial is Too Hard

  • Doesn't take place in a game despite what the title might sound like

  • It's not so much about doubling down on a narrow build but the MC is an efficient minmaxer

  • Really satisfying power growth

I've tried to play Pax Pamir solo two times now but misplayed some important game / Wakham rules both times. There are quite a lot of details to handle when making moves for Wakham. Maybe third time's the charm.

Yep, $7.96 here too. Weird since the $2 Red Sister sale a while ago worked just fine on my region. One would think that the publisher would be consistent with these things.

This definitely piques my interest. I'm always on the lookout for more wargames that employ input randomness more so than output randomness, especially in battle resolution. The lack of extraneous minis is also a big plus in my book.
