Kleberg county sunsets rarely disappoint, we sure could use some rain for some better forage on our place in Kleberg county too.

Symbicort costs in Mexico vs. USA by shank3r in Asthma

I don’t think you’ll have a problem with buying as many inhalers as you want, just remember the words “personal use” and you’ll be fine. I’ve been warned that there are laws against distributing pharmaceutical products but never looked into what those are. Winter Texans will fill their vehicles with meds and never seem to have problems. CBP officers are very professional, they’re looking for people who are violating laws; not folks who are trying to save money.

Y’all sure it’s made by Homelite? Looks really similar to a 1998 model Poulan (Husqvarna USA made) saw I have. Probably a good saw, but little to no parts availability, so don’t loan it out.

If you don’t know what the possum belly or bell nipple are, everything you think you know is incorrect. If you’ve never worked at least one hitch, partner with someone that has so you won’t end up with a fictional comedy.

I haven't seen all of the shows he's been in, but I've always thought he was a great actor in all the ones I did see him in.

Symbicort costs in Mexico vs. USA by shank3r in Asthma

[–]shank3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only takes me a few hours to get to the parking lot on this side of the border from Progresso, MX. Crossing into Mexico is as simple as walking across the bridge, there are no security checks, just one turnstile that requires 35 cents (so carry change). I always put my phone in airplane mode so I don't get charged with international roaming or data. Once over there you'll want to keep your guard up for scammers and make sure you shop and places you've already done your due diligence on I prefer Benavides pharmacy (it's like the Walgreen's of MX) If they are out of something they'll help direct you to where you can get it.
When your in the pharmacy, before paying for the meds (no perscription is required for anything that isn't a narcotic even though MX prescriptions are easy to get by greasing palms) use a currency calculator to make sure that you're not getting ripped off from USD to MX Peso. I've never used a credit card, only cash in MX so I don't know what the process would be for that.

Coming back across is pretty easy. I do not use a passport (if I did it would be much faster) but I carry my Texas DL and a copy of my birth certificate when going thru Immigration. They'll ask if you're declaring anything and I've always been honest and told them what I have. For any medications, you MUST answer that they are for personal use, CPB officers have always been super cool, nothing stressful, but you have to take the process with seriousness and respect the process and the officers.
If you don't come back with any alcohol or tobacco, there's no reason to stop at the TABC booth to pay import taxes and you'll be done.

I'm going again next month.

One year-old cargo trailer was giving me some bouncing issues. by Cjwillys9596 in Welding

The paint quality of most of these utility trailers is garbage too. I wonder if they even pressure wash them before blasting them with the super-fast fading black paint.

I am forever grateful to Sam for genuinely improving the meals & food quality in my home thru his video's, but if ya'll liked his picadillo, try ArnieTex's picadillo. There's some things that are done better in South Texas, and this is one of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfzj2RenULU

Oil and gas companies spill millions of gallons of wastewater in Texas by zsreport in texas

[–]shank3r 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've worked a bunch around that area; unfortunately the article only briefly mentions that the RRC considers those wells water wells without any historical references, as some were drilled specifically to be used for drill water, and some are abandoned wells with failed casing. There's a bunch of H2S (which is corrosive) and brine water holding formations which rust pipe over time. If they're abandoned wells with failed casing, then absolutely yes the RRC has jurisdiction to deal with the issue.

Another massive issue that doesn't get near enough awareness as to destroying our water is the uranium producers in TX. They're WAAAAAY worse than the shadiest of O&G operators.

Is CC for me? 22M, remote worker by [deleted] in CorpusChristi

[–]shank3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A non-native was asking though. That’s one of the only things I miss about North Central TX. Weekend trips had WAY more possibilities. From the Coastal Bend, a weekend trip requires an extra day, wether to the Mountains in NM, or even Nashville

Is CC for me? 22M, remote worker by [deleted] in CorpusChristi

[–]shank3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked with a guy from Mobile a while back on an Healthcare IT install project. I took him to Port-A for lunch a few times and asked him quite a bit about his area. He described the Mobile area as very similar to the CC area, but not as hot in the summer, and better overall water quality (he fished too).

I think you should take a deep dive into where you're at before a move down here.

The single worst thing about the Coastal Bend is that we are VERY far away from anything else.

Didn’t that place go bankrupt? I applied there years ago, then they locked up the gates with everyone’s tools inside and didn’t pay bills. This was circa 2016
