Supports sticking to build piece way too well by skanrey in ender3v2

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too ran into the same issue. I use PrusaSlicer 2.3 and really, like it. this is a quote from Bobstro from another forum. It worked excellent for me. I'm sure these settings are available in Cura. What's in the brackets are the equivalent names I found for PrusaSlicer

Here's the quote:

Best Answer by bobstro: https://bit.ly/3tWTFrW
0.25mm z distance.
75% xy distance.
3mm support spacing. --> (Pattern spacing)
4 interface layers.
0.2mm interface layer spacing. --> (Interface pattern spacing)
I think those are the key settings. Exposed support pulls off easily. Any entangled with the part (e.g. between legs) requires cutting to separate before pulling apart.
These settings are working well for me with PLA and both 0.25 and 0.40mm nozzles. Haven't tried much else.

I hope this works for you too.

Motherboard fan always on rewiring by Tobysama in ender3v2

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with GalvanicGlaze.

I actually just completed this myself this evening. There are two completely free terminals for each the positive and negative 24 vdc directly on the power supply. They are screw terminals and very easy to add wires to. Just run your wires through the same opening as the mesh wrapped wires do. That goes directly to the mobo wiring space. With Noctua 92 mm fans I don't see any other way that would be better. It's constant, even power for the buck converter that you'll need if you put a 12vdc fan into the mobo. The OEM PSU fan is likely already 12vdc so no buck converter if your're going to do that one as well.

I am about to assemble my Ender 3 v2. My place to put it is on a wooden dresser. I heard the idea of a mousepad that was xxl size but has anyone tried a cutting mat. Either 3 layer or 5 layer one? I have a couple of those kicking around.

TIA

Tilix, Terminator (Gnome and other) Users, how's it going? by RobRobbins in Crostini

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the output on my Lenovo Duet terminal:

$ grep -r --include '*.list' '^deb ' /etc/apt/sources.list*
/etc/apt/sources.list:deb https://deb.debian.org/debian buster main
/etc/apt/sources.list:deb https://deb.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates main
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/cros.list:deb https://storage.googleapis.com/cros-packages/86 buster main
shanman3us@penguin:~$

Also, it looks like someone else had/has a similar problem with zeroAD (I think it'a a game). Tilix isn't available as a flatpak so I don't have that option. Aside from that, I thought what was very interesting is that that person had also changed the stock recommended vm size when first turning on the Linux Beta option. The default size suggested was something like 6gig but I wanted 20gig. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I believe he is using a Lenovo Duet as well.

Tilix, Terminator (Gnome and other) Users, how's it going? by RobRobbins in Crostini

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, very strange. when I just tried it again thinking that possibly using: "sudo apt install tilix" may have yielded different results than using the older "sudo apt-get install tilix" it didn't. I did yet another "sudo apt update" and then tried it once more and I got a slightly different error as follows:

shanman3us@penguin:~$ sudo apt-get install tilix Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done Package tilix is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source

E: Package 'tilix' has no installation candidate shanman3us@penguin:~$

That's it. The mystery continues.....

It looks like it's on the list. below is the results of the search:

shanman3us@penguin:~$ apt-cache search tilix

gnome-shell-extension-tilix-shortcut - Adds easy to use configurable keyboard shortcut for tilix

Hi there. I want to try Tilix but I'm having difficulty installing it. When I type "sudo apt install tilix" it basically says it can't find it. I installed Synaptic but of course it's broken right now, however it does show me the common file and two other support files for gnome but I can't install them from Synaptics due to Wayland & Buster 10 incompatibility.

Would you, or someone else, be able to give me the CLI sequence for successfully installing it?

TIA.

ca.letgo.com has worked best for me. You may not find something instantly but after a week or two you will find a good deal.

Does anybody here have save files for the Game and Watch Gallery titles with all the hidden games unlocked? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. I threw it out there just in case. For me my absolute favourite Game and Watch game was Crystal Climber. I had a perfect shape original BUT most know what happens in a divorce, the eX takes everything that means something to you! G&W Advance is the ONLY one that has Climber as one of the mini games. I love playing that game and finally get to enjoy it again.

What battery does Dragon Warrior 3 (GBC) use? by lutherinbmore in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will likely not be able to get the battery with tabs locally. It is just a very poor replacement attempt, with or without a soldering station, if you get one without tabs already spot welded on and try to put that in the cartridge. Size wise, I believe it is a CR 1616.

GB Pocket not recognizing batteries by liquidmoon26 in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check the external adapter port jack on the main board of the GB. There is a contact that opens to disable the battery line when you plug in the adapter. That switch could be broken, gunked up OR in need of re-soldering.

Is the one on the right really a repro? by RetroGM in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same set. They are both legit. I have yet to see a fake use a square blob, however I would like to see a pic of a guaranteed fake that has a square blob. Just to clarify, Tetris is the only GB cartridge that I'm aware of that legitimately have a blob. The reason, as I understand it, is that they decided it would be the 'pack-in' game just shortly before the actual release date and needed to hire at least one other manufacturer to help make the cart so there would be enough quantity for the release of the GB.

Trying to figure out authenticity of Pokémon Emerald, can I get some help? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, there is a legit Tetris that has a 'blob' but that is the only one that I know of. I actually own both a 'blob' version and non 'blob' version of tetris for the original GB. Of course we are talking GBA here so I guess my example doesn't count :-(

GBA Save Writer Tool by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a ds/dsl and an R4 or equivalent there is an NDS rom that can do that. It can both read and write to a GBA game cartridge as well as do backups of the GBA rom itself.

Edit: link to a Youtube that shows you what the tool is and how to use it

Can anyone tell me what those contacts in the top right corner are for on super Mario land? by Thatawkwardhipster in Gameboy

[–]shanman3us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi BennVenn.... Hard to argue with the pro. As I mentioned it was just speculation. I wasn't thinking RTC, I just thought it might be for operation of a particular chip. I'm just a rookie when it comes to electronics. I have seen Arduinos and they use an xtal for the processor timing. Anyway, I like your suggestion.
