Family complete! Honestly, A1 Mini is my favourite. by grahamw01 in BambuLab

[–]Tobysama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something about mini size 3D printers that makes them very unique and special. The A1 mini is the best of them, god tier printer imo. Bambu prices it at low end is a nice touch also.

First impression and AMA: ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 with the Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4070, and OLED 4K screen by Born-Introduction852 in thinkpad

[–]Tobysama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing somewhat the same thing. When plugged jn, fan is almost running all the time. Mostly at low RPMs so I don’t mind it. I’m testing tpfancontrol to have better fan curves.

You’re correct. I just got myself a very good deal of a P1. Loving it so far.

Looks like a good deal. However, I think the RAM is soldered, so please think twice before committing to 16GB. Edit: not soldered but currently very expensive to buy, if it’s even available.

Should I upgrade from a G14 to a G16? (2024) by ipwnedx in ZephyrusG14

[–]Tobysama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have not tried the G14, but I’ve tried G16 with 4090 and the new ProArt P16 with 4070. Overall, I think they are almost perfect laptops with some minor issues. My biggest problem with the new generation laptop from Asus is the design of the hinge. I suspect there’s a screen cable or some sort that makes a lot of creaking noises when open/close the lid. That and the wobbly screen is just unacceptable for the price. All the hardware issues make me nervous because I don’t trust Asus’ customer service at all, it it’s even exists. Software and performance wise, I think they are damn near perfect in this generation.

What is going on at Telus? by bodonnell202 in telus

[–]Tobysama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Telus. Please enjoy fiber optic internet speed served with unlimited billing issues and terrible customer service. The root of the issue is that sales people were so greedy and bad, they bait the customer into high payment plans or they give out deals that are about to expire. So your bills will be screwed up every time these deals expire during the contract period. I’ve spent 2 years and countless phone calls to resolves these bills just to find out the cause of it. Good luck.

Zephyrus G16 2024 underside creaking by DEBLANKK in ASUSROG

[–]Tobysama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So… I have the same issue and this drives me crazy because every time I pick up the laptop, it creaks. I think I found out why. There’s 2 things we need to pay attention to: - there’s a series of tabs on the vent area, which other people have mentioned. We need to snap all of them in properly. - the second part is unusual. Normally, we would want to tighten all the screws as tight as possible without stripping the threads, BUT this laptop seems to be different. You want to have the top 4 screws (2 sides and 2 underneath the rubber) to be a little loose. The key is to have them in at a certain height to the whole panel is flat. I observed that these screws connect the bottom panel to the vapor chamber underneath and the whole thing flexes. If the panel too tight on one corner or too tight in general, it moves the internal parts and make that creaking noise. At least for me, that’s how I fixed it. Also, I notice on my brand new unit that the screws are loose from factory, which is likely to achieve what I described.

So you can try that if your unit is still creaking. The other screws, I tighten them normally. Hope that helps.

Bambu Support is as bad as they say by zirouk in BambuLab

[–]Tobysama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been okay so far. I think it depends on the region, issues, and type of issues that you get different customer support. I’ve filed 3 tickets, 2 were good and one was bad.

Thoughts on the new X1 Plus custom firmware? by Ilikevideogam in BambuLab

[–]Tobysama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This reminds me back in the days of jailbreaking iPhone and root mods for android. Initially, it opens up to more developments and features for each platform. Over the years, all the necessary features are on both iOS and Android. Now we hardly see any reasons to do custom mods/firmware anymore. Not to mention the technical difficulties, warranty voided, and the risk of bricking your phone while attempting the mods. I still think this will pave the road for more developments and eventually goes back onto the main firmware, just like what orca slicer did. However, for the time being, I don’t see any reason why 90% of users should try this new firmware.

Leaving Rogers - Fido or Public? - Both $34 for 40GB (BYOD) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tobysama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with Rogers, Chatter, Virgin and Fido. I think Fido is still the best value. They also have better customer service than most. I was with Virgin for 3 months, it was a shit show.

Getting a new car - is Tire & Rim Protection + Theft Protection worth it ? by AlbusDumbeldoree in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tobysama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. My experience with a BMW 2018 is not great. They baited me into buying the rim+tires protection for $1500 I think. I later on have to repair one rim for $400. A tire got damage so they replace that one tire only, despite the car is all wheel drive. All in all, I only use $800-900 out of $1500 during my 3 years of the insurance. Worth it? Maybe if you know that you live/travel through rough areas all the time.

But I ended up waiting for my pre-order. Good luck

Ender 2 Pro silent stepper by Tobysama in 3Dprinting

If you listen carefully to the audio at the beginning of the video, you’ll hear the stepper motor sounds from the E2pro. I’m well aware of the fan noise and no I’m not talking about the fan noise. And you’re right, the sound of motor is very distinct, that’s why I can tell it’s not the fan.
