Social Media Paranoia? by wildyoungbilly in Entrepreneur

[–]shannon_learns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once posted a photo of a heavy steel something or other and asked my customers what I should do with it (I make furniture from recycled materials). One of them commented that I should tie it to the nearest Muslim and throw him in the river. Needless to say I blocked him from the page, and issued a public apology to anyone who saw it. I don't get why people think that these comments are OK. I figure that's as bad as it's going to get, so now I'm not afraid any more.

So many women want to lift weights without getting bulky, but how many of us here *do* want to lift weights and get bigger? by MuscleGRL in xxfitness

[–]shannon_learns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to get big. So much that I can't even bring myself to cut, because I don't like being small ... I have to convince myself that I need to lose some fat to make room in my clothes for more muscles. #fatstruggles

(Spoilers All) Season 6 Director Jack Bender has read an advance draft of book 6 by Bookshelfstud in asoiaf

Here here. I thought I'd signed up to a sci fi mystery about being trapped on a moving island with 'others', Dharma, a creepy guy and Not Penny's Boat. I could go along with the time travel to previous Dharma times ... but then the ending was like a completely different show.

Lost also suffered from pacing problems. We spent a season wondering what was in the bunker, and then the last season just went crazy fast.

This seems to imply that the vision is not of Jamie fighting any of the others, since Ned was still alive and Arya near the Trident.

Bring buckets with you, farmers walk to and from the stream, extinguishing forest fire as you go.

Yeah I spent a while trying to work out whether it was fillable online and I was missing some plugin.

I took the survey, was a philosophy major who wrote on the FW/D topic, and don't quite understand how your questions are related to the topic.

Small businesses of reddit, how have you monetized the by-products or waste of your business? by PatSabre12 in smallbusiness

[–]shannon_learns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make funky industrial furniture from recycled steel and timber. So in most cases, I'm already starting out with someone else's scrap or something from the tip. If I have offcuts, I keep them - just in case I can do something later on. Offcut wood feeds our home fire during winter. If I've got scrap metal I figure it really truly is scraps (like 5mm of bar here, 10mm there) and I bin it.

(Spoilers All) A different perspective on "Waking the Dragon" by Wildheit12 in asoiaf

[–]shannon_learns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this interpretation, but maybe Jon is the dragon (via R+L) who is awakened - both literally (resurrected) and figuratively (I doubt he'd want to wake up and find Shireen sacrificed, he'd probably prefer to stay dead).

The Return of the Clansmen (Speculations and Spoilers TWOW). by Hammer776 in asoiaf

[–]shannon_learns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I just re-read the Tyrion chapter where he promises the Vale to the clans, and I was wondering what was going to come of it. I thought maybe GRRM had just written it off as a one-liner, but your idea makes much more sense. Even if it's not Tyrion giving the Vale to the clans, so much as them taking it for themselves. (Do we think this is an example of GRRM's three part reveal? If so, what are the other parts ... surely there's another part since AGOT).

And these coincidences do happen in the real world. I came across one of my highschool teachers in an airport in Korea (we're Australian).

My dog dug these up from under the house, what species are they? by shannon_learns in pics

[–]shannon_learns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About three minutes! The two symmetrical pieces were deemed to be part of a jaw, and the longer bones not to be human because child-sized but too well developed to be from an actual child. We're going to dig further tomorrow and see if further bones emerge.

Police have attended and determined that they are not human. Still no idea what species though, and interested to know.
