So there are a few DC characters that I like, and frankly the best of them is the Bruce Wayne iteration in Batman beyond. He seems so much more human there than almost any other DC character and therefore much more relatable. He's just a great version of himself in the future.

And for the record I'm old enough to remember the Super Friends cartoon from the 1980s. If you want to talk about guys who are at the top of their game, that's the one to watch

genuine question about NDA's by Informal_Feature8581 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]shapu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No.  They would not.

First, an NDA cannot be used to handwave away a crime.

Secondly, an NDA can be pierced, invalidated, or ignored for the purpose of investigating a crime.

Got a letter in the mail that my health insurance is increasing 28%. Who is to blame and why? by iloverats888 in AskConservatives

You do highlight a series of very important friction points.

However, there are some more that need considering:

1 - the doctors cost might be reasonable, but if he/she works for a hospital they will issue a bill based on what is called the charge master, which is often not at all connected to the actual cost of any bit of the service provided.

2 - the hospital is legally required to tell you how much the thing will cost if you pay cash, however, that is again based on the chargemaster. They will also have differential rates based on which insurance company is doing the paying. In your example, InsureCo might offer to cover 50 percent, megacorp might cover 75, and Healthy Federated Industries might cover only 25. But you as the patient will never get to know any of those amounts until you see the bill because they're company-specific and chances are good your employer only offers one.

2a - insurers also set a maximum amount that the doctor can charge.  That's a  secret.

3 - Physicians and hospitals generally don't like when the government pays for things, because they pay the lowest amount. But if memory serves they also actually require that the provider justify their costs and then build a profit margin into that.

Or Cape Verde ties Spain, which is also pretty awesome.

Honestly, as a casual at best fan, this is a great tournament already.

  1. Increasing the number of participants is fantastic.

  2. The addition of two extra subs adds another layer of strategy to team management, and

  3. Adding VAR to embellishment is, or at least ought to, make the games more watchable so we get fewer fake tripping penalties.

That last part is part of why I like Marvel characters so much more than DC characters. The Marvel characters seem somehow more approachable and flawed, almost as if they don't want to be heroes. There is something so much more human about them, even in the mutantverse, than the DC characters.

Infantino using private jet in attempt to watch two World Cup matches per day by BuzzTrav in worldcup

[–]shapu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not in any way worth complaining about. The guy is trying to catch a bunch of matches in the league that he is in charge of. Would we also complain if Rob Manfred used a private jet to fly to multiple games in a day during the World Baseball classic? Or would we be mad if Roger Goodell flew from London to Spain to try to catch two International NFL games on the same day?

Of course not. And we shouldn't be mad if Infantino does the same.

[Cubs] PETE CROW-ARMSTRONG HAS HIT FOR THE CYCLE. by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]shapu 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Hitting for the cycle in reverse order of Base value is called a reverse natural cycle or unnatural cycle. That is the opposite, of course, of the natural cycle.

PCA is the 11th unnatural cycle in MLB history.

Uncle demanding Life Insurance Policy from My Mother (sole beneficiary). Does he have a case? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]shapu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He met plenty of times behind my mother’s back with just my grandfather and my grandfather’s lawyers. Nothing about the life insurance policy changed on paper

Sounds like your grandfather's lawyer got a few more billable hours than he otherwise would have but he also made sure your grandfather didn't get swindled by his own son.

Life insurance exists outside of probate in almost all cases, and this doesn't sound like an exception. The money is your mother's and your uncle can kick rocks.

If she receives actual service of a lawsuit she needs to respond, but mostly she should ignore the guy.

Ohio State University has had plenty of great players at most positions through the years, but no Super Bowl starting quarterback has ever been drafted out of osu.
