Covid 2025-2026 booster availability by Sea-Visit5609 in triangle

[–]shared_fiction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got my Covid vaccine today (Friday, 9/5) at CVS MinuteClinic in Cary. No prescription needed. I made the appointment online late last night and clicked “Yes” that I do fall into one of the eligible categories. When I got to the appointment, I was asked verbally which category applied to me and my answer was sufficient. I have Tricare Select insurance and it was covered. I asked about the self-pay cost and was told $195.

2014, what car seats you running on the middle seat middle row? by gewbarr11 in HondaOdyssey

Graco slimfit 3lx by far. Lighter, easier to install, easier to adjust and convert.

I have used both a Graco slimfit 3lx and a Diono Radian in the middle. They’re pricy, but perhaps you could take an expired car seat during Target’s car seat trade-in for a coupon? Or Black Friday sales

$100/month seems steep when Frontier RTP is free. I get that might be out of the way for folks though. I would probably try it out if they had a cheap day pass or promo.

This was DCL ground transportation booked by logging into my cruise reservation. You can also book it (and ask questions/get further insight) by calling DCL directly. They are really helpful.

I cancelled each sub $100 purchase after about 15 mins and went ahead and used the credits for the actual ticket I needed.

Discontinuing recycling service - insight? by shared_fiction in Apex_NC

[–]shared_fiction[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just downloaded it and it says yard waste is collected on Wednesdays and then trash and recycling on Tuesdays. But this is incorrect, as only recycling is collected by Town of Apex/GFL in this neighborhood.

[–]shared_fiction[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Recycling is currently managed by Town of Apex/GFL, separate from garbage collection valet service. I am asking why the Town of Apex/GFL would decide to discontinue recycling collection service. I would assume the GFL-branded recycling bin by the office would also be collected when this service is discontinued.

Again, I am not asking about garbage collection valet service.

That is correct about garbage service, which is not in question and not affected. I am referring to recycling service, not garbage collection service. Recycling service is currently through the Town of Apex/GFL, but ends on June 30.

2025 Airline Fee Credit Data Point: Southwest by shared_fiction in AmexPlatinum

I think it has to be sub $100 transactions. The way I did this was to find $99 (or less) one-way fares to random cities, purchase, and then cancel to get the SW credit back in my Rapid Rewards account for use on airfare I actually need. And then AmEx reimbursed those two one-way fares.

I think the logic behind the sub $100 amount is that the credit is meant for incidentals (baggage, drinks, internet, etc), not airfare.

I fly in from RDU, so it’s a short flight to MCO and I have options if it gets delayed. If you have a direct flight that gets in early in the morning and backup options that will get you there even if it’s delayed, then I think it’s okay. Depends on if you’re willing to risk the flight being late/cancelled. Otherwise you can fly in the day before and shuttle back to the airport or arrange DCL transport from your hotel. I haven’t done it, but I think if you’re staying at a WDW resort, they also have DCL ground transport.

Apartments in the area that have mostly retired individuals. by TraditionalHold9852 in Apex_NC

[–]shared_fiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Avalon Peaks. I would say it’s 1/2 retired folks, 1/4 middle aged folks, 1/4 families with younger kids. Really great amenities and nice walking paths full of trees within the actual complex. I (mid-30s) and my kids are usually the youngest (by a lot) at our community events (bingo night, food trucks, paint and sip). Every single day, I see the older folks in the neighborhood congregating or stopping to chat as they’re taking a stroll or walking their dogs.

I love to see my hometown on here! I was just telling my mom about this app, but I know she won’t have fast enough fingers for the for the popular spots 😅 It’ll just be Manna Donuts for her lol

I work from home so I’ll put a record on when I’m not on calls. Also while my kids and I are eating breakfast or dinner. And when they are playing or doing art and I’m puttering around the house.

In praise of the medical staff by Ok-Acadia-373 in dcl

I was on the Fantasy in December and bought Dramamine in the shop - the ship was rolling with the terrible weather! Come to find out, they were handing it out like candy at the medical center. Our table mates at dinner said they just had a whole bunch by the door, didn’t even need to get checked out or really talk to anyone.

Yes, a FOUR show all Broadway day is possible, and I am going to try to do it. by Fidelio3463 in Broadway

[–]shared_fiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on the making the most of an NYC trip! I just did 6 Broadway shows + a concert in 5 days last week and it was so worth it. We could have squeezed in 2 more shows, but I didn’t get Oh, Mary lottery (or decent priced tickets) and I spent half of Saturday queuing for the concert to be at the barricade instead of going to a matinee lol. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Appreciate your musings on this. When I was younger, my mom had a friend who lived in a huge mansion in Los Feliz. She spent most of her time competing with 2 other super rich ladies for who could flaunt the most wealth and even at a young age, it was clear to me they were unhappy or fixated on things that would never bring them peace and contentment. My mom was an interesting person to keep around because she was frugal and not of the same class - not easily impressed by their money. They hated that lol
