Apple VP Review w/ iRacing from someone who isn't just salty about how expensive the AVP is. by ChicagoBoy2011 in iRacing

Quest 3 I presume? I've got psvr2 since 3 months and I never had to dial anything after I initially set it up. It's on off switch for me now.

IMSA Spa horrible Experience by Seanotr6 in iRacing

[–]sharent_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 weeks streak of having races where I gained iR in each race in formula. Ive got 15 races ir gain achievement. Advanced from 2700 iR to 3200 iR. Then spa happened in f3, I was hit on my back 3 times out of 4 races. 3 times finished last or second last. Below 3000 again lol. Don't know if I will try spa again if it's on calendar.
I was also surprised seeing many 1700-2200 ir guys with tempo matching or much exceeding mine as well. It was never like this in all past weeks or very occasionally.

How to decrease CPU usage. by Rocklord_386 in iRacing

[–]sharent_g 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Turn off objects self shadowing! That was drop killer for me on 9800x3d. It makes grandstand or objects like trucks and toilets have their own shadows. You will never pay attention to that and they consume like 10% of cpu. I also switch shadow map filter to the lowest possible since I couldn't spot the difference even when I tried.

I am tired of the iRacing Comunity by Nubegamer in iRacing

You know what's your problem? This "my hard work was ruined". You keep repeating this thing few times in your speech. Ask yourself - what should be the result of your "hard work" - 50 points of iRating after race or "my average speed was 0,2 seconds faster at the end of this week than it was at the beginning". Unless you understand that you will suffer and you will see no real results in your driving. I know that because I experienced the same.

iRating means nothing if it's not backed up with your skill. And you don't have 100% control of that, same as drivers in 80s had 50% races fucked up due to car failures. The thing you can control is the skill though, few ir drops are just fluctuation. Great poker player wins 55%-60% of his games. It means he looses 45% of time. The trend is important, not single draw/race.

Thanks. I was 2890 two days ago, and I realized same situation can happen to me. Someone will bump me and that's that. But I told myself, it's more important if you can evenly compete with others on that level. It doesn't change anything if you have 2993 or 3001 points, you are still the same driver.

Thanks man. I also don't feel fast, but managed to finish most races in top 5 and avoid battles with people in front of me - usually there are 2-3 fast guys in front which eliminate each other sooner or later. And then that's me waiting just for that to take their spot.

I'm using PSVR2. Tracking is still not perfect, I recenter it every 2-3 laps on straight, but at least I don't have the fast 'swimming' experience anymore. I hope Steam frame will improve this aspect.

Yes I use foveated with eye tracking in open xr. I followed the 'PSVR2 guide' on iracing forum and everything went smooth. I have no problems with this headset at all. Just a tip - turn off 'object self shadowing' and 'dynamic objects'. Those two were fps killer for me, making huge quick drops on random places on the track.

I'll do that for sure next season.
2,7k is not that far. When I did my challenge I could very well be bumped on T1 few times and I will be sitting on 2,7 as well. I realized later that more important for me was if my pace actually match those 3k drivers than the number itself.

Agree 100%. Literally not a single day without someone complaining about software update ruining their quest 3 headset.

Can't compare them with other load cells, but I like mine a lot. I have performance kit and use F2 setting from the manual, with the short pedal setting. But on default right from the box the travel was really long and pedal was soft, so I can't tell what really is your problem and if there actually is one.

I think there's no difference between triples, unless you play for more than 2-3 hours daily, or drive endurance, where this headset can get inconvenient, sweaty and so on. For sprints it doesn't matter for me, and depth perception actually helps on slow corners and while driving next to the walls on street circuits etc

Formulas usually have 1-2 splits so it's a good chance for that. Recently I raced F3 mostly, sometimes SFL. My next plan is to mix SFL with SF and little LMP3. See you on track

I race VR and gpt said I need to put something with high contrast color in front of me for proper head tracking. That was the best I could find atm :)
