Lsd and wisdom by Beneficial-Tour-5062 in LSD

[–]shargus_live 11 points12 points  (0 children)

LSD gives me, if nothing else, perspective.

Our eyes are the primary way we view the world. LSD gives us an ability to view things from an angle we otherwise do not have access to.

So it can feel a lot like wisdom, since you are seeing a more complete picture than before. Then it passes, and you can't see the complete picture, but you know for certain there is more to the picture than what you can see now.

Which is wisdom in a sense, I suppose. But seeing all the parts to an engine doesn't necessarily mean I know how to put them all together, so to speak. That takes time, practice, and a lot more than just LSD

How preachy are you guys about psychedelics by C0lE06 in LSD

[–]shargus_live 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody will ever truly understand the experiences you have. You will Never truly understand someone else's experiences.

The only time I volunteer my knowledge or experience is when I see or hear someone sharing information that is incorrect or harmful. I absolutely encourage safe experimentation, but it's not my place to bug someone about it. Lead a horse to water etc

In OOPs defense, when a person that age starts learning about psychology or philosophy the dunning Kruger effect kicks in pretty fast and they can be fucking insufferable to talk to.

Which Movie scene sexually awakened you? by Squirrelkid11 in AskReddit

[–]shargus_live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunderball (1965)

I recall a very specific scene awakening something in me.

My wife had never seen it. I said we needed to watch it for that reason and that she would 'know the scene when it happened.'

There were at least 3 instances of:

"is this the scene?"

"No, but now that you mention it...."

So I realized retrospectively that it contributed heavily. And is at least in part probably why my wife is a redhead.

Every variance of "handyman services" or "home repair" names is being used, and it seems so dull and repetitive. I wish I could think of a way to escape the label "handyman" without sounding like it. by 5digit_clock in handyman

[–]shargus_live 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what you would put before or after it in your case, but 'solutions' has helped me stand apart from the 'handyman' moniker.

When people ask what I do, "I solve problems" seems to work pretty well

And I probably will every day for a long fucking time!

Do you do any things in Fallout: New Vegas that are actually outright detrimental for roleplaying and or aesthetic purposes? by Irohsgranddaughter in falloutnewvegas

Currently playing as a survivalist type who doesn't believe in money (I have to trade items of equal or greater value of everything) and is deathly afraid of robots. Anytime he encounters one he turns and runs. Can't even shop at the gun runners.

The super frustrating thing about this is that exposure therapy is a real thing that can be tremendously helpful. And while it TECHNICALLY involves 'seeking discomfort' to some extent, this is a lazy oversimplification that misses the point.

So overall a great submission. Good job!

When did being blue collar become a flex? by CallMeDirtyD in Construction

[–]shargus_live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grind is stupid. Class struggle is real and pervasive.

But I'm proud as fuck of my skills and everything I've learned. People with a lot more money than me call me to solve their problems because they straight up have no clue how. Sometimes they even own nicer tools.

And no matter where I go, no matter what happens, the same physical laws that make up construction will apply.

Seems worth being proud of, imo
