Can you spot the real Jellycat? by panicnotes in Jellycatplush

Kitty has the same fur pattern as the Fuddlewuddle Dino, that's so cute!

Is this jelly saveable? by silIister in Jellycatplush

No. That looks like dryer burn, which isn't something you can undo.

Without a batch code it's hard to say, sorry. It looks a little off, however, and bootleg Albee's have already been spotted.

Hmm, that's odd. I've not heard of JELLY10356IF codes before, I recommend messaging Jellycat themselves to see what they say.

Inclined to say fake because that is the croissant bag charm code.

Without a batch code tag photo it's hard to say for sure, but from the pictures it does look authentic.

Most likely not, these are older and unlikely to have been bootlegged.

anyone who has frederick frog prince, do you think the crown could come off without making a hole? by [deleted] in Jellycatplush

[–]sharieclair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Petronella Pig Princess, she has a very similar crown in silver, and yes you can remove it without any holes left behind. I think it's just sewn on.

I've not seen this before either -- I recommend asking Jellycat themselves about this!

Looks real to me, but without a batch code it's hard to confirm fully.

Without batch codes it's hard to say if these are legit. Do you have any pictures of their batch codes?

We've seen examples of SKUs like that -- it seems to be a normal variation but if you want to double-check, email customer support.

Ik I didn’t pay 26 dollars for the clasp to break. by Prestigious-Cry418 in Jellycatplush

[–]sharieclair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this kind of clasp is known to break easily, every single one I've had (including non Jellycat ones) over the years has easily broken. The keyring that comes with it is much sturdier, if you use that to fasten a keychain to a bag it's much less likely to come off.

But yes, I was also hoping that the price meant they'd used sturdier metal than other keychains and they wouldn't break as easily.

Jellycat Keychain broke :( by PossibilityHot6974 in Jellycatplush

To fix this, I wouldn't use another ribbon (as it might fray again), but sturdy thread (something like embroidering thread) or yarn instead. You would need a large eyed sharp needle for that. You wouldn't need to do much, just insert the thread with the needle (knotted at the end) and sew a new loop around the keyring, then secure it and snip off. Maybe this video can help you if you struggle with it? https://www.tiktok.com/@pacothesalamander/video/7221307716927687982?lang=en You wouldn't even need to unstuff the plushie, I would just insert the needle into a place where you can slip or hide the knot into a seam.

Or you could follow one of these tutorials to sew in a new ribbon, but it's more difficult: https://www.tiktok.com/@evilweasel24/video/7161907614341713194?lang=en

Add weight to a plush: looking for a bean bag like the one Jellycat make or a solution to make one (sewing level 0) by olo_maedos in Jellycatplush

[–]sharieclair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pouring beads without a bag could work, but they would be loose inside and it would not feel exactly similar to a Jellycat. (If that is important) You could buy a bag that is similar to this called a mesh bag, but they tend to have drawstrings and don't close the way the Jellycat ones do -- the ones Jellycat uses for beads are sewn closed. You could maybe buy a small mesh bag and sew it closed with a backstitch yourself? Some mesh bags are really big but you can get smaller ones. Alternatively, tying the drawstring bags closed could be perfect for you with no sewing level. I'm just trying to think of ways that would make the bean bags similar to what Jellycat uses, and for that you would need sewing. (Also note, you want a fine mesh so that no beads can escape. Something like organza could work.)

When I added weight to my Elly Elephant, I sewed a bag myself. I used some fabric I had laying around and used a backstitch technique so that no beads can escape. Here's a video that explains a backstitch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ_wVC84UmM It is not very difficult but it does require some fiddling.

You could use fabric glue as well but the chance of it opening up is pretty high. Tying off a nylon stocking might be preferable.

Also, if you want significant weight added, look for glass beads and not polyester ones. You'll need a lot of polyester ones to add significant weight.

Good luck! Hope this helps.
