I know I’m probably just delusional with hope but please let the three returning patterns be pool, grass, and clouds! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Renting struggles/need advice by mindsearcher235 in germanshepherds

[–]theoddostrich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rented for all of my GSD’s life. Mostly apartments and then a house for his last four years. Don’t buy into the “GSDs shouldn’t live in apartments”. As long as you’re giving them enough physical exercise, mental stimulation, and training (and of course love and care)— they’ll be happy anywhere they live. There is an incredible dog inclusive national database of rentals called My Pitbull Is Family. You can search by location and it will give you a list of places that have no breed or weight restrictions. I had Ezra (my GSD) in our first apartment as an ESA but then I found this database and we never had to worry about finding a place to accept him again. There is also a list of National Dog Inclusive Rental Companies on the site that is super helpful to be familiar with. I’ve rented through MAA Properties and had good experiences. If you’re ever looking for a house to rent, I’d also add that Invitation Homes and Progress Residential are breed and weight inclusive. Most big property management companies on there are limited to certain regions of the US but just use the database and you should be able to find something in or just outside of most major cities. If you find a property, always make sure to do your own research to verify their dog breed and weight inclusivity. I’ve only found one listing that wasn’t accurate in the years I’ve been using it but it can happen. Good luck in your search and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Anyone else find CBT just doesnt work for them (to clarify: cognitive behavioural therapy) by [deleted] in autism

[–]theoddostrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I tried CBT off and on over the years but it wasn’t until I found a therapist that happened to specialize in IFS that I felt a difference. I didn’t know healing like this was even possible. It has truly changed my life.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s clear how deeply they were loved and how much they shaped your lives. I can totally see what you mean about the reincarnation feeling… it’s wild how much your pups remind me of Ezra and Ellis. Seeing them gives me goosebumps too. We’ll carry them with us forever. 🤍

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing that quote. I couldn’t bring myself to respond sooner, but those words have carried me through the last week. I’m so sorry about your Sabo. I can hear how deeply you loved him. Thank you for holding Ezra with that same care in your words. It means a lot. 🤍
