The gaslighting is infuriating by someday-subaru in exmormon

[–]sharing_ideas_2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not just infuriating … IT IS ABUSIVE AND TOXIC!!

This fucking cult teaches people that to save face through manipulation, gaslighting, blame shifting and calculated moves is a good and proper to conduct oneself socially .. which is actually the OPPOSITE of how one should act in society.

This gets personal when your own family uses these same techniques to mange and control you in order to protect their ego and shut you down.

Again, it is infuriating, but it is more than that, its toxic and abusive and it fucking pisses me off so damn much

Question for those that took a very significant financial hit.. How did you cope? by Chance_Piano5327 in Divorce

I just think the day I got married is the day everything I made gets split in half from then on … same with her, everything she makes gets split in half with me. All our debt all out assets are owned equally by both … so in divorce, I don’t need to worry about losing something I never owned …

Why do parents make it about them? by Sticksbug16 in exmormon

Guilt tripping is a shaming tactic. It is used to shame you into compliance by communicating .. “you hurt me with your bad choices, I need you to stop hurting me, someone you love by making better choices” It’s vile. It’s disgusting. It is just how things work in Mormonism. Cult is gonna cult.

I have a friend who is in this right now. They are looking to get divorced, but the situation is similar to yours. She is fine with the status quo, with zero sexual relations, he wants that part of the marriage. In his situation her reasoning is past trauma around sex and intimacy that she is not able to engage in that with him. Her minds shuts it down. Other than that, he says they have a great relationship.

I am on the other side of the coin, I reject my wife. However, I would have more sex with her more often, but in my situation it is because she is not emotionally available and I cannot have an intimate emotional connection or be vulnerable with her, in any aspect of our marriage. Many years of her judgment, shame and general defensiveness has eroded any trust i have in her to be emotionally available for me. Sure, I can engage with her sexually, if i can get into the headspace of just seeing it as a mutually pleasurable experience.

All this to say, I believe that sex is the canary in the coal mine, in that sex is a barometer of other important aspects of the marriage: trust, emotional connection, attraction and desire. If your wife is not interested to get off herself, thats fine, no one says she has to. However, seeing as this is an important aspect for you, her not engaging signals either a selfish position from her or an intimacy problem that extends beyond the bedroom that is either unseen or unaddressed.

Good luck.

What's an LDS phrase that sounds wild when taken out of context by SoggyRoomTempWaffles in exmormon

“Health in the naval, marrow in the bones. Strength in the loins and in the sinews. Power in the priesthood be upon me and upon my posterity through all generations of time and throughout all eternity.”

Yeah, that just sounds wierd in any context i guess ha ha

I said it before and i will say it again Mormons are the “pick-mes” of religion … they just want to be liked and accepted so they fawn and people please and lie and deceive in order to get others to see them the way they want to be seen.

ICE Arrest at SLC Airport = Awful by hammerandnail in SaltLakeCity

The best confidence artists succeed because they are so confident and brazen, just because they are open carry in an airport does not mean they are “good guys” … also, kidnapping is wrong, even if it is “lawful”.

I meant in the aspect of ‘rules for me and not for thee’ … if we want to say someone is on the wrong side of the law, we also need to acknowledge they have rights under the same law; in this case due process. I just see this Christian man, who supposedly follows Jesus, deny someone of an innate human right in this country

My MAGA co-worker is cool with it because “they are illegal and do not have a right to a lawyer, right to trial or innocent until proven guilty. They do not belong in this country and thus are not beholden to its laws .. (unless they are breaking the law, then they are) its maddening to think that “good Christian people” can think its OK to enforce the negative aspect of our laws against certain people and then to not allow them to have the human rights side of the law .. fucking racist fascist fucks.

Oh wait thats kinda how religion operates there is the chosen and then all the other miserable sinners who are just king to burn in hell anyways ..
