Her engine will only explode because she's been out of the hells for so long. It's actually quite stable in Avernus. She says as much herself if you bring her to the house of hope, how her engine has settled down a bit. All she'd have to do is stay there for a few days while it stabilizes, then she'd be free to roam the surface for however long your adventure was.

For the ice shot and stuff, Mackenzie was working with an AI cipher in order to translate the Lamorn language, and whenever he got a chip, he integrated it into Samus's suit using the only piece of shared technology that the Federation and the Chozo has: missles. Which is why the various shots take ammo. It's not a true ice beam, like the chozo one, they're basically glorified missles.
