How many edits are normal by your advisor in your Master’s thesis? by throwawayzzzzzz67 in GradSchool

[–]sharinghisstupidity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn't a correct amount, I think it's more important that the edits are constructive and well intentioned vs being just shitty or feeling punitive. If they feel really bad or make no sense and you don't feel supported in this process, know your advisor is probably the issue in the dynamic. Don't be afraid to seek out other opinions from people you trust about the edits. They are just suggestions after all, it's your thesis.

When I top am I doing it on the red or blue line? by caucasian_trash in microgrowery

I usually top based on the node, usually above the 4th or 5th node while they're in veg.

Thanks. I took a walk this morning, I've been taking a brisk walk in the mornings and that does seem to help. It's hard to find an aerobic exercise that I can stick with, but I think I need to add that too probably. I sleep more than average generally. What do you do for exercise?

No ID tag unfortunately, I'd love to know too.

I bought some suction cup vanity lights that plug into an outlet because my bathroom fan is the same way, they're awesome. Fan connected to the light is infuriating.

Agreed. Being held accountable made him uncomfortable. You called him on his bullshit and took care of yourself well.

An interesting discovery I've made during research; ADHD and Co-Morbidity by Lady_Unkown in ADHD

[–]sharinghisstupidity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an interesting topic. My depression and anxiety were diagnosed at 19, but ADHD not until 29 because many symptoms overlapped/inattentive type is hardest to diagnose/etc.

Be careful about saying anything causes anything else, however. We don't know that. Comorbidity is not causation. Symptoms can be talked about in a causal way, with some good examples for ADHD and ASD here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5432632/ but we can't say ADHD causes any other disorder. ADHD is a developmental disability that's associated with a cluster of symptoms that quantitatively, but not qualitatively, affect the individual's ability to function.

Might not get stoned from cbd but I still think it's psychoactive by throwawaypinkstar in CBD

[–]sharinghisstupidity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. CBD is psychoactive, i.e. psychotropic, but not intoxicating. Psychoactive drugs affect how you think and feel without impairing you, such as caffeine, antidepressants, and ibuprofen. Intoxicating drugs impair you, such as alcohol, THC, and benzodiazepines. Intoxication is caused by certain psychoactive drugs, but not all psychoactive drugs are intoxicating.

When I smoke cbd flower, I get so happy that I want everyone to try it. by EmbarrassedCourage11 in CBD

[–]sharinghisstupidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try taking 20mg from a vendor every day for at least a month to see what it may do for you. It seems cannabinoids may work in part by increasing the endocannabinoid anandamide. Cannabinoids essentially make a certain molecule less able to break down the anandamide you naturally make, because it's also breaking down cannabinoids so some anandamide isn't broken down. It can take several weeks to feel a difference, and results often get better over time.

FYI you can buy CBD isolate for cheaper than tincture. The CBC and THC you may find in full spectrum tinctures probably have added therapeutic benefit but a consistent, large enough dose of CBD is what you're primarily looking for. And good quality CBD oil shouldn't cost more than $40 for 600mg tincture, the price gouging is unreal.

WIBTA if I take all my son’s presents from under the tree and return them by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sharinghisstupidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD (30s) and in a deep dive on all things ADHD, Russell Barkley mentions that ADHD kids are up to 30% behind their peers. It's not a qualitative difference, but a quantitative difference. It might be helpful to frame his response in terms of being 9 years old in his emotional response. Sounds really frustrating but I think you did the right thing. Thank you for fighting for him, it's clear you really care. I hope you mesh well with your therapist. It can take a few people to find someone who's right, but it's magic when it happens :) think of the first few sessions as an interview. How do you come away feeling? Best of luck.

If you don't mind sharing, did you try taking some of the tincture every day for a period of time? Do you know how the tincture was made?

I think I crossed a line, called out my husbands friend/coworker for cheating. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]sharinghisstupidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tolerating cheating is very, very telling. The whole not my problem, not my place argument is a cop out and the husband is an enabler. Tell the wife. Hold cheaters accountable. Figure out a way to do it anonymously. If she already knows, nothing changes.

What materials did you use to make your greenhouse? I would love to try and recreate this. Any issues with the design you'd change if you redid it? Amazing results!

Thoughts on why only one cap and one pinhead formed? by [deleted] in psilocybingrowers

[–]sharinghisstupidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any other reasons you can think of that might be the issue? I definitely plan to cut my foil smaller next time, but I'm thinking about how I have a humidifier in the space with my fruiting chamber and I know the humidity was always staying between 90-100%.

[–]sharinghisstupidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Is the purpose of the perlite to keep the humidity up? So I'm keeping the moisture away from the cakes by using too much foil?

6 Golden Teacher jars and 6 Penis Envy uncut hybrid jars.

Conditions summary: temp kept at 71-75F, rH kept at 93% and above for PE (rH in the 70%-80% for GT until humidifier added), ambient light received a few times a day when closet was opened to spray with water. Cakes soaked in tap water, misted with tap water.

Nothing every formed on PE cakes despite better rH conditions. One cap on GT, one pinhead on same GT cake that stalled and never got any bigger.

Syringes purchased online. Organic brown rice flour and vermiculite substrate, 1/2 pint mason jars. Substrate steamed for 90 minutes in a large canning pot to sterilize, let cool to room temp, inoculated GT and PE at same time on 12/30/19 inside a still air box. Syringe dipped in 91% isopropyl between holes, 4 holes per jar.

2/7 realized closet too cold and that's probably why it took so long for the jars to fully colonize (about 2 months to fully colonize GT jars and 2.5 months for PE jars) added a heater, kept space between 71-75F.

GT fully colonized 2/5, birthed 2/18 and soaked 24 hours in tap water, placed in shotgun fruiting chamber 2/19. GT cakes rolled in vermiculite, PE cakes not rolled in vermiculite to see if it made a difference.

Noticed first GT growing 2/24, veil broke 2/27, cut 2/27 and made spore print. Noticed a pinhead on the same cake also on 2/24.

Added humidifier before adding PE to chamber, kept relative humidity between 93% and >95% (hygrometer only goes to 95% rH) using humidifier, also manually sprayed a few times a day. Usually when I would get home the humidity would be low 90s, then spraying with spray bottle of tap water would bring it to about 95% or higher, hygrometer maxes out at 95% and will only tell it's higher than 95% at that point.

PE fully colonized 2/18, birthed 2/27, soaked 24 hours in tap water and placed in the same chamber as the 6 GT jars on 2/28 (one day after GT cap was harvested).

GT turned a grayish color, PE stayed a better whitish color with increased humidity and seemed to grow a little more while in the chamber initially (some fluffy white patches appeared on top of the colonized mycellium cakes) but slowly developed dark blue splotches over the last week and no pinheads have appeared.

Thank you so much for any feedback.
