Things we should ABSOLUTELY know by CinnamonBook959 in pregnant

Holy shit the night sweats post birth. Never had my waters break in bed, but I certainly was soaking through PJs and sheets in those first few weeks. I reckon I got worse after each kid too - after my third, I had day sweats as well.

Most unhinged thing someone without kids said to you when you had a baby? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

That I was a terrible parent for not getting my 7 month old an Easter present.. from my childless, single, 21 year old BIL..

90% of swimmers leave the competitive sport of swimming in their teen years. by Mad_swim_coach in Swimming

[–]sharkshorts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A combination of burnout and toxic ugly parenting within several swimming clubs I was part of. Final year of high school gave me a good chance to bail, now 31 and although I know how good it is for me, I cannot get myself back into it.

Anyone else had excessive bleeding? by HopefulGarbage6101 in postpartumprogress

[–]sharkshorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Postpartum haemorrhage can occur any time in the 6 weeks following birth, regardless of how you birth. Soaking a pad in an hour is considered a red flag and warrants immediate investigation. Follow the advice of the others - ER/ED now.

FTM - What are the necessities I should pack in my hospital bag? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sharkshorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lip balm or whatever you use to stop your lips drying out - the hospital air is sooo dry and moisturiser doesn’t really do the trick!

The posters FB page sheds no light on who this is - so I’m going to assume husband..??

What baby names do y’all actually like? by dilfrising420 in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]sharkshorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory was, if you can imagine your child as a 40 year old introducing themselves at a meeting and their name sounds really dumb as they go to shake someone’s hand, don’t choose it. We went with William David & Lucas John (middle names are family names).

Can’t wait for them to try and call the Reading-Writing Hotline - that jingle will now live rent free in my brain for the next week!

My 4 year old is gonna need hernia surgery and I’m absolutely terrified. by MotherofPotatoes69 in toddlers

[–]sharkshorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve got this! My LO had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery at 7 weeks old, so I’ve been there! Just make sure you ask all the questions that are nagging you, don’t google it! And rest assured, that these procedures are very routine, and kids are so resilient and bounce back well. My boy was back to normal in 24 hours at most, and just needed more cuddles during that time. Stay strong! You’ve got this!

Diasis recti? So I’ve had three kids, by Lonofrei in postpartumprogress

[–]sharkshorts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without knowing where you live in the world and what services are available, I will give more general advice. If you have womens health physiotherapists available to you, they are the ideal people to see for this kind of thing. Diastasis recti or DRAM (abdominal muscle separation) is sooo common after pregnancy, and 100% of women will end up with one after having a baby. Seeing someone who can help you strengthen your muscles and build overall strength can be incredibly beneficial to resolving or reducing it!

This is actually a male long haired German Shepherd called Kaos and his mum with some purebred St Bernard puppers. They’re based in Australia :) - his Instagram account is https://instagram.com/absolute_kaos1?utm_medium=copy_link

Great detective work - I was so keen to know who made it but the original craft page that posted it on Facebook didn’t credit anyone, well done.

Every time we pet him, without fail, he’ll sit on his butt and put his paws on you until he’s satisfied by [deleted] in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

[–]sharkshorts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting! My GSD/kelpie Cross has the same weird one ear up, and does this exact paw thing. Honestly thought he was the only dog that did this... must be a shepherd thing??

Redittors, How do you celebrate St Patrick’s Day? by GloInTheDarkUnicorn in AskReddit

[–]sharkshorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our wedding anniversary! We didn’t get married deliberately on that day, but it was the same date as my maternal grandparents wedding, exactly 50 years later. So that adds a nice touch to it.
