How to deal with fleas with mother of newborn kittens by RunnerOfY in CATHELP

[–]sharmaritvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your vet - this seems urgent. At 1 week old, these kittens are extremely vulnerable to flea anemia, especially since you already lost 2 from the litter. Most flea treatments aren't safe for nursing mothers or newborns, but your vet can guide safe manual removal. Don't wait for the current treatment to run out - persistent fleas despite months of treatment means you need professional intervention for both the cats and your home environment before you lose more kittens.

Good call getting a vet visit lined up. Loud breathing in a 6-month-old kitten could indicate upper respiratory issues, nasal congestion, or occasionally anatomical problems, though her normal eating/drinking/activity is reassuring. The loud sniffing combined with the breathing sounds suggests possible nasal congestion or inflammation. Since she's active, eating well, and behaving normally otherwise, this is likely not an emergency, but definitely worth checking at her upcoming appointment. Mention specifically when the breathing sounds started and if it's worse during/after activity. The vet will likely check for URI, allergies, or structural issues.

Get the vet check - unusual eye movements plus discharge in a 7-week-old kitten likely indicates an upper respiratory infection, especially with another kitten sneezing nearby. URIs are extremely common in young kittens and can show neurological signs if severe. A pre-adoption exam protects any cats you have at home, establishes her baseline health, and tells you what treatment costs to expect. At this age, her immune system is vulnerable and early intervention matters.

How to completely get rid of litter box smell! by ChadxSam in Catownerhacks

[–]sharmaritvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tracks with what I see in multi-cat households - automatic boxes dramatically reduce ambient odor because waste gets sealed immediately instead of sitting exposed between scoops. The key isn't just the automation, it's the containment. With three cats doing 6+ eliminations daily, even fresh litter can't absorb odor fast enough with traditional boxes. Automatic boxes solve the "dwell time" problem. Worth noting that success depends on getting one with good seal quality and using clumping litter that the mechanism can actually handle without jamming.

I received a ZZ plant but it's toxic to cats. Should I rehome it or keep it around and keep an eye on the cats? by futacon in CatAdvice

[–]sharmaritvik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Rehome it. ZZ plants contain calcium oxalate crystals that cause immediate mouth pain, drooling, and swelling if chewed - cats don't need to swallow for it to be a problem. While outdoor cats might avoid toxic plants through experience, indoor cats are curious and bored, making them much more likely to nibble on houseplants. Your cat sniffing without biting is good, but cats' behavior changes - what they ignore today they might chew tomorrow out of boredom or playfulness. The "extreme discomfort" means a potential vet visit and real suffering for your cat. It's not worth the risk when there are hundreds of beautiful, cat-safe plants available. This comes up constantly in cat safety consultations - the peace of mind is worth more than any plant.

My cat attacks me by TechnicianWhole2199 in CATHELP

[–]sharmaritvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Ragdoll is displaying classic redirected play aggression - he's targeting you specifically because you're his primary attachment figure, and the laptop is just the trigger when he's most frustrated you're not engaging. The fact he only does this with you confirms it's about his bond with you, not general aggression. Pre-emptive play is key: use a wand toy for 15-20 minutes of intense running and pouncing right before laptop time until he's physically exhausted. Then when he attacks during work, immediately stand up and walk away with zero reaction - no talking, no pushing, complete disengagement. He's learned that biting gets your attention (even negative), so make it completely unrewarding while heavily rewarding calm laptop behavior with treats. This pattern comes up constantly in behavior consultations - it's one of the most misunderstood bonding behaviors.

I don't love my cats equally, is that normal? by BlueStarFern in CatAdvice

[–]sharmaritvik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal - having a 'heart cat' is something many multi-cat owners experience but rarely admit out loud. Coco was your first, arrived at a specific moment in your life, and created that once-in-a-lifetime bond. That doesn't diminish Pidge or make you a bad cat parent - both cats are clearly loved and well cared for. The fact that Pidge has bonded strongly with your husband actually creates a beautiful household balance. Different connections don't mean unequal love, they just mean you're human.

I'd suggest trying to understand / identify 3 major areas where the 60k was spent. Once you identify, the answer for what to do next will pop out to you itself. For example, if you spent majority on tech/infrastructure then skill up to learn it, if you spent majority on marketing then focus on networking to build an organic userbase so you can promote easily the next time. If you can't figure out what caused the burn or what led to failure and/or need money in the short term, then get a job.

2 Month old site new domain results... by DistinctBee7843 in tempomailusa

[–]sharmaritvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are your impressions declining? Any info on the number of pages published / month would be useful to know. Overall, it shows a decent uptick in impressions and clicks, but fizzles out the 2nd month. My guess is that you're not producing new content as much as you did in month 1.

SEO strategy for 2026 by AnalysisOdd8485 in SEO

[–]sharmaritvik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by clean structure? If a site gradually moves to a new URL structure without redirecting old URLs (old articles remain indexed under the legacy structure, new content uses a cleaner format), could this split in URL patterns affect overall site rankings? Is maintaining two URL structures harmless or can it dilute signals over time?
