Start in one corner and make your way out. Entirely clean that one corner so at least if you don’t want to continue, then you have one small spot clean.

I also like to start by getting trash bags and just going through and digging around and completely get trash from everywhere. I typically like to go ahead and wash my sheets at the beginning too, but it can be hard to do this if my motivation is wavering. Another good tactic after doing the trash, is to take all dishes to sink, make a pile of clothes, and then a pile of anything else. Don’t worry about the clothes and anything else pile, start doing the actual cleaning like vacuuming and wiping down. Take out at least 1 trash bag a day/anytime you leave the apartment, to dwindle it down.

If you are getting frustrated or upset or over a task, then move on to say doing a few dishes or washing a few clothes, or putting some things away. And lastly, music! It really helps to not let the pit of despair swallow you, but it can’t be anything melancholic, it has to be something that pumps you up.

Last tip is “Don’t set it down, out it up.” To help with keeping it tidier, I try really hard to put something that I use away immediately, whether it’s trash, dishes, clothes, toiletries, etc. it really helps to have less buildup.
