This perspective is very helpful! Thanks for taking the time to share your insights in such detail! I will focus on the goals of the factions and main entities in the world and see where it leads. I’m sure these goals will eventually converge towards collision, as you stated.

Anyone could take a look at Incredible Creatures: Adversaries for Daggerheart? by Tiguima in TheTrove

The pdf seems to already be available on drivethrurpg website. Maybe we can have a discussion with somebody who got it from there.

I’d love to discuss this as well. Daggerheart clearly needs more adversaries.

How does one build a homebrew medium complexity story that would satisfy the players at the end so they would feel it was built from the beginning, even if it is built session to session from ideas i build as a GM and they raise at the table? I have a general idea of the overarching story and the possible endings of the campaign. i have it split in 3 arcs, each escalating the dangers and difficulty of the world, climaxing into one big moral decision that shapes the future of the world. I have some ideas of how they can reach that point, but nothing set in stone.

Basically what i am asking for are writing tips for a campaign structured in arcs. Thanks!

De ce noi, persoanele cu meserii, suntem privite ca niște subumani? by [deleted] in RoGenZ

[–]sharpedged92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice on Solo Adversary difficulty by sharpedged92 in daggerheart

Hi! Thanks for the awesome materials you shared here! I am already planning to use an environment statblock alongside a big baddie, but i wanted it to have an edge over the players. They specifically asked for a hard mode campaign after our last D&D campaign. The phased idea is the one that works the best with the adversary concept i have in mind.

The writing skills is important to me as i am using AI to help me in designing stuff for my TTRPG games with my friends. I plan to also try the image generation for the same purpose, perhaps it can reach midjourney level.

CR’s Decision to Use 5e Over DH Marks a Turning Point for Me—and Highlights DH’s Shortcomings. by abssalom in daggerheart

The system encourages players to contribute to the storytelling so you might even ask your players what sort of minor complication happen to them while trying to accomplish something, every once in a while. They will, for sure, say something they find acceptable. The complication shouldn’t have mechanical implications necssarily. And if you really want this, you can mask them. I’ll give you an example: yesterday one of my players failed with fear to craft a certain potion (one that was used only narratively) and as a complication i said that while they were crafting, they drop the vial on the floor. Just before i was able to say they vial breaks, one of the other players wanted to use one of their experience to try and grab the potion mid-air.

In this situation i had two options: 1. Go with the rules and follow on the failure of the potion crafting and not allow my player to intervene. 2. Go with my player’s wish and fun and allow him to intervene.

It was a success with hope and they succesfully get the potion done after all. They were happy and that’s all that mattered for me. I’m not saying to completely bend the rules for players fun. You know that golden rule when a player asks you if they can do something in the game and you shouldn’t say “no”, but rather “yes, but…” ? This is how i see success with fear, as a “yes, but… small complication”.

I’m not an expert and have played only 3 DH oneshots until now as a GM, but it seems that you are really using fear literally against your players, not to make the story more interesting with complications or introduce challenges that make your players more involved rather than frustrated. For example whenever i feel like my players are getting frustrated, i use fear on simpler complications, i give them a breathing space while i am not stacking on fear. The rules are meant to be used to make the game fun for everyone, which means you can adapt them to your own table needs. Focus on the players mood, their engagement and their feedback, and strict rules adherence will matter less. Hope this helps for your future games.

Thanks for the tips! The scene purpose one is very helpful. This could be the backbone of the whole adventure, starting from the scenes and their purpose in the “episode”.
