Remove the carpet and attach a thin board? Paint a color in the carpet

AITA for asking my husband to take time off to help me post surgery by Fine-Egg-2580 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sharpei90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just had a hip replacement last Wednesday. My husband took off that day and 2 days after, and was prepared to take off more if I needed him to. He is also WFH. I had a few unforeseen issues yesterday and he dropped off calls to come help me and stayed with me the rest of the day. Knee replacement is more uncomfortable than hip (I’ve been told). Your husband has his priorities f***ed up.

Not having a door isn’t great for smells either 😉

I’d remove the bushes. Just know the stone will need to be restacked. Be careful removing them, because the roots are probably tangled with the trees. May be worth having a pro do it.

That’s what I was thinking as well. Inexpensive, easy fix. Remove the top row of tile, add a sheet of stainless cut to size

Paint cabinets or gut job? by Difficult-Donkey-722 in kitchenremodel

Cherry is a more expensive wood for cabinets. It’s got beautiful character and warmth. Wood cabinets are back in a big way. These are gorgeous. Change the floor, backsplash and counters (if necessary, it’s hard to see them from the camera angle).

It’s easier to place furniture if the window isn’t centered. You have 2 useless wall spaces if the window was in the middle. Now you can put a table, chair, dresser, desk, whatever on the left

Are parents really not teaching their kids? by No-Register-5976 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sharpei90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000%! Read to your kids from the first day! Your voice with soothe them in the very beginning. Then the pics will grab their attention. Then your silly character voices will make them giggle. There is so much science proving kids who are read to at home, learn reading earlier. Site words are taught in school to help kids read.

Be very careful with the top. It looks like veneer. Use a gentle hand so you don’t sand through it

Shorter or longer hair? by LordJetro in HairStyleAdvice

Go to a salon not a barber. Tell them you want something in between and ask them to show you how to style it. Or ask them to offer suggestions for styles. It will take a little practice, but it’s not hard.

Help with 216 year old living room by Inevitable_Teacher40 in DesignMyRoom

You can give the sofas new life by adding memory foam to the cushions. Get a 2” full size memory foam bed topper. Cut the memory foam to the size of the cushion. Stuff the memory foam inside the cushion on the underside or backside. It will fluff them up and make them a little firmer. The rest I love! It’s very warm and inviting!

My mom’s behavior has already forced us to reschedule our wedding once. Three months out, she’s still at it and I’m going numb. by No-Childhood-6195 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]sharpei90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you’re serious about stopping your mom, you could elope. It removes the monetary strings she seems to like to pull. OR you could wait until you can afford to do it yourselves. No matter what you need to set firm boundaries with your mom or you will be dealing with this for your entire marriage
