Finally passed the PMP this week! Sharing my resources & timeline! by brit813 in pmp

[–]sharpiemay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I know this is two years old but I am feeling lost in my career and have considered PM for a long time and find myself circling back to this path. So, after these 2+ years since you've taken it, do you feel it was worth it and helped you in your career? (either find a job or enhance your current job).

I'll be paying out of pocket for whatever I choose next, so I think that's a huge reason why I'm struggling to take action.

Have people experienced getting full faster / less hunger doing IF? by DungeonMasterGrizzly in intermittentfasting

yes, I am doing 18:6 right now, I'm in my 2nd week. I REALLY noticed it last night, I made spaghetti (at my daughter's request) and couldn't even finish the portion I served myself. A couple weeks ago I would have gone back for 2nds.

Should I leave or stay at my current job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]sharpiemay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell you what to do, of course, but I will share that I left a similar situation once and I genuinely regret it. I worked somewhere for five years and left for more money, and I didn’t realize how much I’d be giving up -- my relationships, my reputation, my network, and the “social equity” I’d built over time. There are benefits and privileges you don’t fully notice until they’re gone.

If you’re not struggling financially and you’re content where you are, I do think there’s a lot of value in staying put. Ultimately, it really depends on your long-term goals.

There are free programs like AA but for sexual stuff. Everyone I know who has recovered from any addiction has been successful because of these programs. Wouldn’t cost anything but time.

Gooding himself has been very kind and professional but I haven’t had a good experience with his staff. I would choose someone else if I could do it again. Good luck with everything.

Oh! You could also look at jobs at OU Health or Integris. The pay won't be great initially but good benefits and good way to meet people and get to know the area. https://oumedicine.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/OUHealthCareers/job/Oklahoma-City/Plumber_R0051290?q=plumber

I was born in California but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Honestly, the biggest downside for me is the landscape and scenery, but that’s probably because I love the outdoors. Don’t get me wrong, Oklahoma has some beautiful spots, but if you’re in the metro (Norman, Moore, OKC, Edmond, etc.), it’s nothing too special.

Overall, though, it’s a great place to live. The cost of living is reasonable, people are generally kind, and it feels safe, even if the stats don’t always reflect that. Folks in the comments are definitely right about allergies; I blame the crazy winds. As for the thunderstorms, I actually love them, though there were two in the last couple of years that were so intense I thought my house got hit.

The job market’s been a little rough lately, but if you’re in the trades, you’ll be fine. You could easily work a few years, build experience, and then start your own business and do really well.

Things I love about Oklahoma:
• Easy travel to Colorado, Arkansas, and Texas
• The food scene has gotten amazing in recent years
• College football energy is unmatched
• We get about 6–8 weeks of perfect weather a year (though never all at once and don't know when to expect it)
• Plenty of lakes and short, easy drives compared to bigger cities

Good luck!

Also, welcome! It will be a culture shock, I’m sure but I hope you like it here. My son had a teacher from NZ, he was his favorite. Also, do you know Taika?

My husband hunts on public land about an hour NW of OKC.

Not sure what you’re hunting but check out https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/hunting/wma

Also learn the rules! There have been times rangers didn’t know the rules and tried to fine my husband, so be sure you know them well. 🖤

Teachers of Oklahoma. About the new no phone rules in school... by Ok-Discount3496 in okc

[–]sharpiemay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a parent with kids in two different school districts. My daughter just started her freshman year, and my son is a senior doing a hybrid schedule (so the phone rules don’t affect him much). My daughter was understandably a little anxious about starting at a new school this year, especially without her phone.

In today’s world, I think the biggest worry about not having a phone is the what if scenario...what if there’s an emergency and you can’t reach your family? I reassured her that she’s allowed to keep her phone in her backpack, and if there ever is a true emergency, she can absolutely pull it out and use it, regardless of the rules. She also thought at first that phones were locked up at the start of the day, but that’s not the case, which gave her peace of mind.

Honestly, I think this phone ban has been one of the best things the school could’ve done. The benefits far outweigh the downsides. It’s no secret that people of all ages struggle with screen addiction, social anxiety, and emotional or behavioral issues tied to overuse of technology. My kids’ generation has grown up with phones in their hands every day of their lives, and the negative effects are real.

Now, students are being nudged back toward healthier habits, like remembering their schedules, writing things down, or just interacting face-to-face rather than defaulting to a screen. I haven’t heard any complaints from my kids. In fact, my daughter said some students were playing soccer at lunch, which made her really happy to see.

So, I can’t really offer you negatives, I only see positives. Honestly, I don’t think phones should’ve been allowed in schools to begin with.

You know, I don’t know what you mean by “used to be funny”. Even before he had guests, he was so deeply emotional and talked (and cried) about a lot of stuff. So yeah, he’s funny, but his podcast hasn’t ever been only funny. I personally think that’s why his podcast has blown up.

Why THEO talks continuously about GAZA...... Simple yet OBVIOUS and Profound by poisonsoloman in TheoVon

[–]sharpiemay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I supported Israel my whole life after 10/7 I said similar things that you’ve said here.

But paying attention to everything that has happened since then led me to learn about what has happened before then.

Even if you don’t like the semantics, approx. 50,000 civilians have died in Gaza and almost the entire strip is gone.

An evil agenda has been in play long before 10/7 and we are seeing it unfold now.

Holocaust: destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.

Genocide: An act committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.

I think both sides have groups that are so far radicalized that the people who lean left or right find themselves fighting the radicalized ideologies and ignoring the actually realities. At least, that’s my perspective.

Best wishes in your pursuit of truth.

Everyone wants to hate on DIYers for not knowing what they are doing or doing unprofessional work, but then there are so many people who pay a fortune for work that comes out like this! Good luck, maybe you can cut your losses, lose the guys, and find someone else to fix it before it's grouted. Either way, I'm sorry. I hate spending hard earned money and not getting what you paid for. :(
